I am out in San Fran and turn on NBC for Olympic coverage. This guy is anchoring the morning news and was as awkward as ever.

Jon Kelley? Yeah, I remember him. He played college football at the University of Nebraska and I remember he was NBC5's #1 sports anchor in the mid '90s before he shifted from sports here to entertainment in Los Angeles as a correspondent on the entertainment news show "Extra". He wasn't that good when he was here either...

Used to anchor NBC5 sports? He's lucky he's still alive.

He was the face of channel 5 sports during the second 3peat.

Then he went to like Extra or Access Hollywood right?

Tom Shaer...Former SCORE morning man & NBC5 weekend sports anchor who has his own communications company these days.

It also wasn't that long ago that Shaer was also ESPN Radio 1000's answer to Dan "The Duke" Davis, anchoring ESPN Radio "SportsCenter" updates & providing commentary.

If there was an answer for Dan Davis, what was the question?

Kelley's greatest moment will always be knocking the shit out of Danny Bonaduce in a charity boxing match. Dig that!!

Who was the radio voice in the 1984 college football game when Boston College's Doug Flutie threw a hail mary TD pass to beat Miami at the old Orange Bowl? I kid you not.

While Brent Musburger had the call on CBS Sports, and ESPN Classic has aired the game several times, Dan "The Duke" Davis, was on the call for the Boston College Radio Network before joining the "Worldwide Leader". In fact, he told that story about a year or two ago, I believe to "Mike & Mike in the Morning". True story. Davis just retired earlier this year as an ESPN Radio "SportsCenter" anchor.

No, Dan Davis never ran for the White House. That was John McCain who ran for President back in 2008. Both guys are old though.

Did some drinking with Bonaduce at Bootlegger's back in the day.

Bootlegger's had an awesome 5-7pm Happy Hour in those days. $5 cover, free well drinks. Any drunk of the time will know what I'm talking about.

I've never posted the "my brain is full of fuck" image macro on a message board, but this was a very close call.

I always picture you as a younger man. I guess your humor and charisma cross generational boundries.

I remember it well. I always considered Rush Street to be a place for tourists or maybe where a kid goes to get his first legal drink, but Bootlegger's was always cool.

Speaking of Happy Hour, I was down in DuQuoin, Illinois at the southern State Fair shortly after Jim Thompson had saved it. Thompson himself was down there to hand out the trophy in a harness race called the Governor's Cup. There was some guy who was just loaded to the gills. It was three in the afternoon and this fucker was wasted. And this goof starts yelling at Thompson, "There's the governor. The guy that killed Happy Hour. Why'd you kill Happy Hour? Damn governor, killed Happy Hour." Instead of just ignoring him, Thompson walked over and confronted his constituent. He told the guy to meet him in the beer tent.

Never did "Access Hollywood", RP Bryan. Jon Kelley was once on "Extra", the show now hosted by Mario Lopez & Maria Menounos.
