Going to Gettysburg at end of the month. We are taking my friends 9 year old cousin,boy. Very into sports. I will be bringing my laptop,Kindle and MP3 player along. WHat should I load up on the laptop and Kindle for him so he is not bored out of his skull on this 12 hour drive?

Hit up Knoebel's amusement park on your way out or on your way back. It's about three hours north (20 minutes south of I80), no admission fee, you either pay by the ride or buy an all day ride pass. My family loves going.

Parents are not going. It is just My Friend,his wife,kid and me. I think I will load Sandlot and stuff like that. Maybe to read Encyclopedia brown or Hardy Boys. Maybe Goosebumps? I know i am going to be bored on the ride just don't want the kid getting on my nerves I want to keep him occupied.

Let me add my 18 cents here.

Most kids I have seen act much better around anyone else but the parents! This is not just from my nephew, but my friends kids, etc. They act like .....well....uhm...ASSHOLES...around their parents. Nothing is good, everything sucks, they always want something else, but when my nephew spends the day with me at a Cubs game, he is no problem at all..if my sister or Bro in Law goes with he is just a total asshole.
