I'm pretty sure that Steve Rosenbloom and David Shuster are part owners of these places.

http://libertyville.patch.com/articles/real-urban-barbecue-is-officially-open-for-business

I was there Saturday to see Rozner and Finfer for a bit. Pulled pork with spicy sauce was awesome...b/t RUBBQ, Beer Market, Tom and Eddie's, Gilardi's, etc...it's becoming a hot little corner in our area.

They were out of the "famous" burnt-ends on opening weekend by 1:00 when I got there.
Pretty bummed about that. How do you run out of your most famous item in 2 hours on the first day?
Anyway, I'll be going back...but per the article I'll be calling ahead. :?

I highly doubt you can find "Real Urban BBQ" in Vernon Hills.

I have to remember this place next time I am in that area. Kinda far for a trip just to hit it up.
How far from Pine Meadow Doug?

on the radio it sounded like these guys were masturbating in the pulled pork. "oh uh oh yeah....it's so good"

When I worked near the Merchandise Mart from 93-00, there was a sandwich place that would ALWAYS run out of something major at lunchtime, which for me started at 11:30. Whether it was a certain cheese or bread or condiment, it got to be a joke. But, the sandwiches were good, so you were willing to put up with that crap.

Also entertaining was the Moses Malone-sounding dude at Scholtzky's Deli, who pronounced "four" as "fo." When he called out ticket numbers, we giggled like schoolgirls if the order was 444.

Loved their tagline of "Accept no Subsitute-skys."

that's a link to a thread on this shithole on the LTH website which is a great message board to read about restaurants in the area.

Brought a slight tear to my eye when I attempted to use the Search function on the food site and I got to see how it
actually works...

I was offered a share of this place before it opened in HP. They do a good job, not great but good. Here is a rule. Never invest in a bar/tavern/dining, etc if they dont own the building! The building is the key! So when it fails, you get something back and in many cases the investors do better in the long run.

Regardless, I was told that someone had some of the HP location que and said, lets open one in VH. That is all one guys money.

It's good, not great, but once again, tough to smoke for the masses

And it will likely do well up there since there is nothing else like it in the northern burbs.

I think they are only located in upper/middle class neighborhoods in the suburbs. They're not even that good either. Obviously you can get better BBQ in Chicago, but there's much better BBQ in the suburbs too.

How do you feel about Mariano's exclusive deal with Boar's Head, DB? I was a big Dietz & Watson fan. Sad to see them go.

When did they start having Boar's Head at Marioano's? I don't think I have ever seen it at my local location. Although, the wife usually gets all the stuff at the deli counter, so maybe I just haven't noticed it.
