I've mentioned this before but I miss the old Ogden Viaduct that was on the Near North side that passed through Cabrini Green. There are still remnants of it although it was demolished in '92. It showed up in a couple of movies, Opportunity Knocks being one of them.

Honorable mention: Magikist lips on the Dan Ryan.

It's not really a "thing" per se, but when The Shedd Aquarium was really cheap to get into....same with the Adler Planetarium.

An embarrassing admission....when I was a kid, I didn't want to go to the Planetarium at first because I thought that it was nothing but plants. Seemed kinda boring to me.

I've mentioned before, but I miss the old CTA "fishbowl" buses. They killed them all off around 95-96.

We have a family friend who has a condo on the 27th floor on the Scurve, they always used to have us over for fireworks. It was really neat watching them go off at eye level, or in some cases looking down, and see their reflection off the Lake.

Venetian Night....used to do this in conjunction with the museum visits in the area. My parents and I used to bring a blanket, snacks, etc....good times. I used to walk around and find loose change. Somebody must've had holes in their pockets every Venetian Night.

Score 820 bus adds. 8)

I remember one time when I was taking Mac home from the station when he had a bum wing back in '97. We pulled up to a bus with an add for him and Boers on the back of it. Pretty weird moment. From what I remember, I think he quoted Jim Morrison saying "This is the strangest life I've ever known". He also bragged about his incredible vision, saying he could read a sign from a ridiculous distance before anyone else could.

I don't know how cool it really was, but underneath the "L" station at Fullerton & Sheffield near DePaul University was a hot dog stand called Demon Dogs. It not only served Vienna Hot Dogs, but it was also a mini rock & roll museum that had memorabilia from the classic rock band Chicago, as well as Aerosmith. Demon Dogs was there for about 2 decades before getting removed to accommodate the renovated "L" stop at Fullerton that stands there now, and I remember there was a great deal of opposition to Demon Dogs being removed and not replaced.

Sears Tower being called the Sears Tower. Marshall Fields. The loudness of Chicago Stadium (Eddie Eddie). Only day baseball at Wrigley.

My opinion.

Good call, SHARK. Excellent French fries.

I will add Biasett'is Steak House and Cocktail Lounge on Irving Park.

Anyone who says "Willis Tower" in normal/non official conversation needs to be slapped with a fine and slapped in the face.

I bet if anyone asked what the Willis Tower is, let alone where, no one would know...

Yeah, I remember him....Kevin McDougal and Tim Lester were the QBs

A friend that used to work with me at WYIN 56 was a back-up Long Snapper on the side for the Enforcers. He's now a mascot/entertainment dude for the Gary Southshore Railcats.

It's the tallest building in downtown Chicago.

Confirmed.

I bet there are quite a few Chicagoans who won't call it by its current name Willis Tower, but still refer to it as Sears Tower instead.
