I guess you've never heard of Eddy Curry.

NBA big men are a notable exception. Generally, athletes must work extremely hard to get to play in the pros, but genetics can earn you some pretty big bucks in the NBA.

Don't let Ryan Leaf get in the way either.

I'll give you Eddy Curry, and there will always be a few examples like that (mostly in basketball). But the vast majority of professional athletes certainly didn't "coast" to get rich. For every Eddy Curry there is a Marcus Vick who tried to "coast" and get there on pure talent and got burned.

Yep. Again. Apparently, it's simply not possible to keep a web stream going. It's not allowed.

What is odd is the XRT stream never seems to go down. Wonder why they have such a hard time getting one to work whilst another in the same building, under the same corporate umbrella never has issues.

Franky, I won't apologize for the fact that I get pleasure from athletes filing bankruptcy so soon after retiring. Many earn more than any of us will earn in a lifetime and piss it away on posses, expensive cars and houses, children with multiple women, bottle service at night clubs and the like. People who truly work hard to earn their money normally don't piss it away so easily. As such, I don't feel bad when they end up broke before 40.

I know it's cold and that makes me a hater. Too bad. I find it funny.

I never said you shouldn't. I just said you can't say that pro athletes "coast" through life and get paid millions because that is factually incorrect. You sound more jealous than a hater to me.

Mitch needs to sit these 2 down, and tell them Chicago doesn't give a fuck about Penn St. The story is dead to most people, except B&B. Who cares if Gould called the coach and offered to help him out, it's his choice to and his right.

I bet that a very, very healthy percentage of people would fare no better at managing their money if they earned it in the same chunks as professional athletes. In fact, I know that's true. Check out what happens to lottery winners sometime.

I'm sure he would insist there isn't a racist bone in his body. The thing about that bullshit is, the brothers know better. How can it be that no white guy I know is a racist, yet every brother I know has faced racism? Who you crappin'?

They are intentional racist comment by Bernstein. Don't kid yourself.

Yeah, Goff calls him out. But it's kind of like putting your foot in the pool to test the water. Goff always pulls out quick cuz he knows it's too cold to jump in. He knows better. He always laughs it off and moves on. He knows he can't go hard at Bernstein because he's still thinking about being Bernstein's partner and having a high 6-figure salary. He won't go there with that in mind. To Goff, and to most people, fame and money trump having to work with a racist. Goff has to swallow hard at some of Bernstein's racist comments. He makes up for it by going hard at callers. They're nobodys and it's easy for him to go at them.

Also, there is a sick thrill for Bernstein knowing that Goff has to take it from him.

A large portion of lottery winners are idiots.

A large portion of humanity are idiots. That still doesn't negate IB's point.

No doubt the Gould stuff has a weird racial undercurrent to it, but it's also loaded with Dan's inexplicable compulsion for aggrandizing pro athletes at every turn. Some blue-collar kid from Allentown who doesn't give a shit about football goes to PSU because it's the best school he could afford, and he's so radioactive that Dan and Terry won't hire him. Meanwhile, a Bears player openly pledges his support to a football program that (as they never fail to remind us) ENABLED AND ABETTED CHILD RAPE, and their response is a subdued, rueful "well, he should know better." Give me a fucking break.

True enough Kid but theres way more people who have won comparable money in lotteries to what athletes make who are doing just fine. To say a very healthy percentage go broke the same rate as athletes (what is it, 60% of NBA/ NFL broke within 5 years after retirement? ) I dont believe is factually correct.

Didnt hear it, what was the racial component to which they were referring when talking about Gould?

I didn't hear it, but I'm gathering from this thread that Goff took danny saying "Gould should know better" to mean that black ignoramuses like Franco Harris and Lavar Arrington might not. danny tried to cover by saying kickers don't have CTE. Is that right?

Well as long as he covered it with that solid rationale, I guess its all good.

Urlacher is widely regarded as the blackest white man in America, so it would make sense for him to make it official and file bankruptcy soon after retirement.
