Have you ever been to Texas? I have. My grandparents lived in El Paso when I was a yout. My father and grandfather taught my brother and I how to shoot handguns in the desert. They both served our country in the US Army at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX.

According to this site, Texans own roughly 20% of the guns in the USA, despite having 8% of the population. I stand by my previous statement.

Since you clearly didn't read that article, I will tell you what it said. There are roughly 51 million guns owned by 24 million people.

If I had to guess at which state has the highest % of citizens that own a gun ...Texas would be number 1..followed by Alaska

What's your point? I have made my position on this issue very clear. I side with the gun owners, and the 2nd amendment.

I made a point about guns in Texas, and your antennae went up. My point was that there are more guns in Texas than anywhere else. Obviously, I didn't mean that every 2 year old, and every 95 year old are packing. I provided facts to back up what I said, and you wanted to argue semantics.

Arguing about the % of gun ownership in Texas definitely is.

I said that there were more guns in Texas, than anywhere else. The article backs that up. You didn't argue the facts behind my point, but rather you focused on my use of the term "everyone".

That is the very definition of a semantic argument.

1.) Gun Free Zone. Everyone keeps ignoring that point. Sorta renders the whole "Everyone in TX is armed so they shoulda/coulda/woulda shot back" argument obsolete.

2.) This started with him shooting a Constable and then very soon after that LEOs showed up. Even if every civilian in the neighborhood was a marine recon sniper, they weren't allowed to interfere with live police action.

Anyone on either side bringing up gun control in this situation is misguided.

It is when my initial post was making fun of the gun nuts who say these things don't happen where everybody is packing heat. Colorado and Texas both have very gun friendly laws.

On the flip side, the gun control nuts look foolish when there are many shootings in big cities with strict gun laws, like Chicago or New York. Making guns illegal doesn't eliminate guns.

This issue, more than most, seems to have many extremists on both sides, and they all look very silly.

But this isn't close to the Colorado situation, as I explained. I don't think a Gun Free Zone has very gun friendly laws, and he was shooting at cops and cops were already involved from the start. It would be illegal for a civilian to jump in the scene and take him out, even if he was capable of doing that and it wasnt a gun free zone. I dont disagree with your overall point, I just don't think it applies at all here.
