On October 29th, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy will play a head-to-head match in China. Nothing will be accomplished or settled, but a lot of Chinese 'bout to get paid.

Will it be on TV? Up against Monday Night Football so I doubt many will be watching.

From what I hear it will be on the Golf Channel, but probably broadcast at a later time.

I fully expect Rory to mop the floor with Tiger.

Not sure about that. I will likely watch it. I think Rory is overrated personally. Great player but 2 majors
doesn't make him Superman.

I agree with you on the majors thing, as I feel he has a lot more left to prove, but Tiger suuuuucccckkkkkssss in match-play.

Yes... I don't remember him playing that well in a few TV matches out west against Sergio and some other guys.
He is not a very good match player.

His amateur record would slightly disagree with the both of you.

Although, Tiger did manage to squeak by David Duval in '99 at the Shootout. And that was when Duval started experiencing vertigo.

Tiger is not the same guy he was almost 20 years ago Hawger..... Yes a good record as
an amateur but not that impressive as a pro. His Ryder Cup and WGC records aren't that
impressive.

I understand that, but look at the big Match Play tournament in Europe and he has won the WGC. The Ryder is not fair as you also relying on a partner. What is his singles record in the Ryder and President's Cup?

His career singles record in the 2 events is 5-1-2.

Wake me up when you get a green jacket for that.

Pretty sure his Ryder Cup record is around .500 or less. I think he has played better in the Presidents Cup.
He has won 16 WGC events but only 3 of the match play variety.

I couldn't really find any updated numbers that I felt comfortable posting. You may be right. Match play is
tough for most players.

I found something but it can't be all of the singles matches and he was 5-1-2.

The numbers I found were as of 2010 and he was well under .500 but that was with teammates.

I can't find just the singles but overall for both his record is 33-28-4.

I stand corrected. The numbers I found were not even close to that so glad I didn't post them.
Just shows how tough that format can be even for the best players in the world.

Yeah, he was so good when he was younger at Match Play, but that has changed. Like a number of things with him, no matter what you still want him on the team.

That's the thing. Tiger will go out and make a ton of birdies during any match play round. Unfortunately for him, so will the other guy.

Rory beating Tiger straight-up is no surprise.
