So they get some nice bottles of wine as gifts and Leery said he's gonna bring it to Tanny's wedding (I guess Tanny is a prodcuer that's getting married)

Who the hell brings wine to a wedding reception. They have wine at the wedding reception!!!! You're a guest you idiot, this isn't an NFL Sunday at a friends house. The check is your gift. Larry, do you bring a packed dinner for the groom too?

Larry is just awkward. He just doesn't know stuff.

Maybe he should have brought baby formula instead?

I wonder what kind of gift he would give to someone who is not on the A-Team.

Still the most unintentionally funny thing at that station. The A-team for a half hour show squeezed in before a baseball pregame show.

Problem is you stick out in a crowd too much, way too easy to find and napalm

The other possibility is that he's openly and shamelessly planning on regifting the wine, which is so sleazy and yet so unsurprising.

He made it sound like he was gonna bring it to the wedding with a cork screw, and pop it open for the groom at the his table. That's so white trash.

Admitting you're gonna regift instead of writing a $200 check is white trash as well.

Larry has no grounds to knock Da Ma Na.

Let's count everything that's wrong:

1) brings alcohol to a wedding

2) brings alcohol to a wedding as a gift

3) is re-gifting

4) is re-gifting alcohol

5) is re-gifting alcohol given to him by a liquor store in Oak Lawn

6) is re-gifting alcohol given to him by a liquor store in Oak Lawn in exchange for having broadcast a remote which in theory has brought enough traffic to the liquor store that giving away a bottle of wine is an inconsequential write-off in the grand scheme of things

7) announced intent to do this over 50,000-watt clear-channel radio station

WHAT A FUCKUP

I can't imagine this remote would translate to more sales..everyone knows where kenwood is and if anything thy would avoid the parking lot mess and go elsewhere.

Still, having the name said like 50 times on a major radio station helps

sure....but what did kenwood pay the score for this?..I have heard from a couple guys I know that own taverns ..10 k for a score remote..not sure if it is true or why they would lie to me..but 10k for the same listeners to hear about a place they all know seems like a poor investment.

Larry is also the best at telling you that the sky is blue and the sun will come up tomorrow.

His slow Bernstein-style delivery to tell everybody of his great idea of holding out Urlacher until the Bears play the Packers in week 2 on a Thursday was something.

No kidding, Larry. Everybody in Chicago has thought of that. It's probably 100% certain that the Bears will do that.

He proposed it to Bernstein like it was some out of the box thinking. Bernstein just gave him a quick "Yes, of course."

He does this a lot. He has long-winded monologues to pretty much say that "water is wet". But he thinks if he talks slowly it makes him sound intellectually superior.

It's a 4-5 hour commercial for your place. I don't know what the Score's ad rates are, but I can imagine they're not through the roof based on most of the sponsors.

Bernstein has said that "Bud Light tells us where to go" which I assumed meant that Bud Light buys a bunch of them for the advertising and then gives it to places that sell a lot of Bud Light as a reward.

That's probably the rate that the Score quotes if you call them up but I doubt that they are selling a 10k remote every week.

I love the ads theyre running for the business of sports thing with Bo Jackson, Gary Fencik and Jack O 'Callahan. Come buy tickets for this amazing event and listen to 3 guys who have had opportunities that you or I would or could never get in the business world opened up for them by their success and fame of being athletes on the national stage. Sounds enthralling.

If it wasn't for Leery I wouldn't have known that the Sox coaching staff is gonna get some managerial looks. In fact, he's told me twice in the last 2 hours. The Willie Tyler & Lester show makes my brain hurt.

That sounds about right, Rick. I don't think the Score's sales staff is out pounding the pavement, trying to sell a remote a week. That's more a Waukegan thing.

And pssst don't tell anyone but remotes are terrible investments.

Ok..that makes more sense..because there is no way some of these bars could come up with 10k for a 4 hour show...never been to a remote ..but I imagine they don't bring in a mass of customers...probably just the regs in the bar and a few guys stop in to check it out.

Hawk has been saying that all year. He just repeats stuff that all of us know or have heard from other people.

Oddly enough, it seems like the best-attended remotes are the ones they bitch about doing the most: the ones up in the far north burbs like Island Lake, Mundelein, Grayslake, and so forth.

Also, willing to bet that the sales manager has the Budweiser account. The sales manager always gets commission on the beer account, despite the fact that maintaining the account requires like no work at all.

Honestly, one of the worst attended remotes I've ever seen was at Cubby Bear North a couple years ago during fooball season.

Lamplighters in Palatine is usually a good crowd.

Of course I'm biased, being an Arlington Heights native, but I always thought the north and northwest suburbs were sort of the bedrock of Chicago suburbia, yet the Score treats the region like a stepchild. Must be a Sox thing; either they don't want to go up there or they're not wanted there.

How are the Bears better prepared for an Urlacher absence than at any time in Lovie's time here, ZZ?

Of course, better prepared could mean that they aren't prepared at all but less so than previous years - which I would say is incorrect as well.

all remotes west of 59 and north of 38 are well attended. Dekalb/Geneva/St. Charles etc.
