It's a battle of 2 first place teams to start a 6-game Southside homestand tonight as the New York Yankees, owners of a 5 game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East, make their ONLY regular season visit to U.S. Cellular Field tonight-Wednesday. The White Sox, owners of a 1 1/2 game lead in the AL Central despite stubbing their toes vs. the Kansas City Royals over the weekend, actually split 4 games with the Yankees in the Bronx earlier this season at Yankee Stadium. The Sox won't face C.C. Sabathia, currently on the DL with an injured elbow, & Hideki Kuroda in this series, but these are the mound matchups for what could be an AL Playoff Preview in October:

TONIGHT: 7:10P, Comcast SportsNet Chicago & 670 The SCORE/White Sox Radio Network
NYY: 36 Freddy Garcia (RHP; 7-5, 4.68 ERA) vs. CHW: 34 Gavin Floyd (RHP; 9-9, 4.43)

TUESDAY: 7:10P, CSNC & 670 The SCORE/White Sox Radio Network
NYY: 47 Ivan Nova (RHP; 11-6, 4.76 ERA) vs. CHW: 58 Francisco Liriano (LHP; 4-10, 5.22 ERA)

WEDNESDAY: 7:10P, WCIU 26 The U, ESPN2, 670 The SCORE/White Sox Radio Network
NYY: 65 Phil Hughes (RHP; 12-10, 4.23 ERA) vs. CHW: 49 Chris Sale (LHP; 14-4, 2.72 ERA)

NOTE: ESPN2 broadcast likely blacked out in Chicago & New York markets due to MLB Broadcast Restrictions. "SportsCenter" airs in those markets.

I put a question mark on there for a reason...It's not a guarantee these 2 teams will even meet head-to-head come playoff time.

He's poking fun at your thread title.

You see, you wrote An AL playoff preview.

If you combine An and AL you get....ANAL.

So it sounds like some sort of Sexual Playoff.

On SNL, there used to be a Celebrity Jeopardy recurring skit. One time instead of saying "An album", Sean Connery (played by Chris Rock) said Anal Bum.

So, Frank was referencing that.

Truth be told, they don't have 3B Alex Rodriguez (hand) & 1B Mark Teixiera (wrist) was out of last night's lineup vs. the Red Sox, but the Yankees continue to get it done offensively.

This is a sports board . . . everyone understands that no two teams are guaranteed to meet in the playoffs.

Well, now that the Tampa Bay Rays appear to have made their move, even the Yankees aren't assured of a playoff spot anymore, even with 2 wildcards now.

I just wanted to post in this thread. Somehow jokes don't work as well when they have to be explained to that extent. But RPB did a nice job. I wouldn't have caught the SNL reference, but I loved Frank's squishing to together of An and AL. It shows you where his mind is!

Truth be told, I didn't get it at first. I do remember the late Phil Hartman playing an "Anal" character from time to time on "Saturday Night Live" back in the day.

Who ya crappin SHARK? Phil Hartman was always punctual. I can't recall him ever missing a show.

Rubber, (choking) chickens, and anal, all in the first page of a CSFMB thread. That's why I'm here.
