Saturday Primetime Night racin' this week on ABC - PICKS DUE BY NOON ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 24.

Well, I have to admit that I didn't see Michigan as being the track to really shake things up but Terry's Peeps has taken a stranglehold on this thing. However, history has shown us that, in this contest, it only takes about a week or two for strangleholds to become...unstrangled...and less holdy... :?

Moving on, thanks to pitiful picks by certain middle-to-upper level participants that will remain nameless, like Scorehead, the 10th place position is now 111 points back which doesn't bode well for those that have qualified to have their score reset come Chase-time. You should all be rooting for Scorehead and his like to improve their position prior to the Chase if you need that help.

Also, as a reminder, to myself, the Jamie McMurray Rule will not be in place during The Chase, so you only have 3 more races to take advantage if you so choose.

Carry on.

Jimmie Johnson
Jamie McMurray

Regarding the Chase, will the contest follow the same rules you had last year? As I remembered we could only choose "X" driver 1 time or will it be open picking for all group A and group B drivers. I thought the fact I could only pick a driver a certain number of times really added an interesting element (and a huge pain in the ass I am sure) for a short contest. This contest is longer, but the Chase equalizer could possibly bring us to a contest similar to last year...that is assuming TSPeeps craps the bed in the next race or two.

Just curious. It will be fun either way.

OKC would not like to have to sleep with that.

gotta pick Keslowski again. Plus Marcos Ambrose.

I know you've explained this before, but if I'm above Scorehead, or 10th place, do my points get reset too?

I hadn't thought to do it that way. I had planned on it just being a continuation of the current contest. And, yes, it's a pain in the ass.

However, I often enjoy the ass pain as it could make things more interesting. << yeah, I see it

There has been a significant lack of arbitrary rule changes this year. Maybe. I'll ruminate.

Of course, you do but no one else would.

The point adjustment can only improve your position if you qualify. Those in the top 10 maintain their point totals.

Those outside that qualify will have their point total reset to the 10th place position plus (at least) 5 points. I haven't decided the exact spread between the 10th place person and the reset people.

Those that don't qualify will just keep whatever points they have - which means Boilermaker Rick may continue his descent to the Cheater Index guest room. Apologist can pack his things.

I will gladly pack Rick's things, if it means he is leaving the contest...

*edit: I just looked at the standings, and maybe he should be cheating...

I am guessing your thing could be amended as wacky rule #24, but like you say I wouldn't petition for it.

Rumination #1

Your situation might be interesting if applied to all participants. Each participant is randomly assigned one of the Chase Cup drivers (Group A) and must ride that driver for the remainder of the competition. Group B drivers can be picked at will by participants.

Rumination #2

Participants are assigned to a Racing Team. Each race, participants must pick someone from said Racing Team (whether Group A or Group B). Participants are free to pick from the remainder of the field as long as they only have one (1) Group A and one (1) Group B selection.
