The Bears on Thursday waived running back Kahlil Bell.

The 5-11, 219-pounder appeared in 20 games with three starts in three seasons with the team, rushing for 557 yards on 119 carries and catching 20 passes for 137 yards and one touchdown.

Bell made all three of his NFL starts while playing in 13 games last season, when he rushed for a career-high 337 yards on 79 attempts, including a 121-yard effort in a Week 16 loss to the Packers.

Bell's departure leaves only Armando Allen and Lorenzo Booker behind Matt Forte and Michael Bush on the depth chart at running back.

At least they did it early enough for him to catch on somewhere else.

Agree I think they did him a favor.

Guessing he was not getting it done on special teams, as they do need someone who just tackles.

Who was that guy Tim???? Hmmm...he's a guy????

The LB who was psycho tackle guy on special teams??? White guy///Penn St???

Eh not quite:

Quote:
If he goes unclaimed, then he's looking at likely having to sign for minimum of $615,000 -- $85K less than $700,000 #Bears had on table.

-Biggs

Can't think of a lot of teams who'd pay $1.5m for a 3rd string running back with a fumbling issue.

I'm suprised they couldn't squeeze a conditional draft pick out of someone for him. Someone is going to give him lot's of playing time.

It was a salary move...they asked him to take a pay cut and he said no. Nothing more than that.

I'd be surprised if anyone picks him up.

Prepare to be suprised. I could see both the Lions and the Packers bringing him in and that is just within our division.

Good call. A lot of ex Bears always stay in the division, too. Packers are relying on CedBen, and Lions don't know what they will get out of LeShore, who's gonna be suspended for first two games, and the little fast guy from Cali (name escapes me  ) is one concussion away from retiring for good.

Why are they asking a guy making little over the minimum to take a pay cut? Just ask Earl Bennett. He loses more salary than the pay cut due to the fines over his burrito shoes.

I hope the Lions or Packers use him. Should be good for our turnover ratio.

I think he wanted to be released. Khalil had aspirations to push for a starting job this year. Valid or not, those were quickly extinguished by the Bears making the RFA an offer. He was now a third stringer with a lot of talk from the organization about Armando Allen. It ends up being the best thing for both parties.

Agreed. I always thought they would trade him.

Bell does not have any trade value..he will find a job quickly though..decent back..just fumbles too much.

Former #Bears RB Kahlil Bell passed through waivers unclaimed. He is a free agent.

If he gets signed by a team, he will make like 75k less than he would had he accepted Bears deal.
