Quick and dirty...

During the Heavy Fuel Crew era, a kid with at least a speech impediment would call Dan and ask for tickets. He said Dan's name in damaneeel fashion. Kid had been calling for a while when one day Boers walks in and hears the kid on vmail. Boers thinks the way the kid says Dan's name is funny, so he starts using it on air.

This is my recollection and up to interpretation. Feel free to update as required.

They brought Goff in and gave him a headset. Quite strange really. There wasn't a real reason to talk to him unless Mac wanted to take him to task over the comments he made yesterday or the fact he wasn't a fan of the damaneel thingy. So I think that was the reason. Matty was on the update desk chiming into the discussion as well.

Strange indeed. Sounds like Mac and Goff are playing with everyone, and it seems to have worked.

1. It happened, Goff. I didn't lie like you were trying to imply. You said "Da Ma Na" after the term "Relevant Idiot" was mentioned by one of your bosses. How the hell would I even come up with somehting like that if it didn't happen? Why don't you own stuff instead of trying to weezle out. 2. You don't complete me, Goff. It would be more accurate to say Mac completes you with your countless "Da Ma Na" shots.

3. This is so stupid. All of it. But it's funny.

Yeah. Mac's comments about being uncomfortable with mocking the disabled kid were not (joe) germane to the rest of the show, considering he was asking for autism jokes and repeatedly said he owns a "tard card."

Stuff like this makes me happy I stopped listening to sports talk radio.

I've questioned Mac about this phrase, and said I thought it was in poor taste. He feels he's eligible to say it because he's "in the club." Ok. I don't like the word, but what Mac says in regards to his son is his business.

I get that people with cancer can use humor as a coping mechanism and if you want to make autism jokes to get you through the day of dealing with those issues, you know, whatever, I guess...but this phrase in particular always makes me cringe as it seems especially harsh, regardless of the context.

I was working in my classroom with the stream on and actually stopped what I was doing when I heard the Mackeyfish and Goff utter the name "Beardown." He's in their heads, a message board prion, unkillable, infecting their minds with his profane radio theories.

To be fair, Jason says "DaMaNaa" so much that he likely doesn't remember every specific occasion. But instead of going the "Did you hear it" route what he should've said was, "I'm sure I did say that, but you know I wasn't trying to be offensive. And if there's anything you take offense to, by all means let me know so we can talk about it."

I agree Brick. I don't think there's ever any bad intent. But Beardown often suggest that there is, and things get escalated from there because he's a good agitator.

In fact, Goff has had much more insulting "Da Ma Na" drops. Like when B&B are talking about hillbillies, white trash or crackers. I can't think of a specific time with these, but I know I've heard it.

For the record, only one person has ever completed me. She was a Polish stripper. She was here illegally. She got deported.
