I like Trevor Siemian too. And I agree about Kain. He hurt his shoulder his senior year in HS. So his true frosh year was an experiment at the bowl game. Last year, he looked like a true sophomore, which means volatile (HORRIBLE at Army and PRETTY GREAT at Nebraska). I guess I gotta feel pretty good about Mick McCall's ability to fashion an offense around what pieces he's got. He's done it pretty successfully with Kafka and Persa. I actually think he can do it with Kain too, but when you have some tall receivers like Rashad Lawrence, Christian Jones and potentially Kyle Prater... I could see why having a better pure passer, like Siemian, back there too. But Kain Colter is a true leader... and the other players really look to him to lead this team. Rightly or wrongly, Fitz values that shit. So [Lovey voice] Kain Colter is our quarterback [/Lovey voice]. If he truly stinks it up, you might be right that Kain moves to WR.

 What?

I think they could go 4-4 and still make the title game UCLA-style. I don't trust Wisconsin at all. Penn State is bad.

Now with Penn State and Ohio State out of the title game this year, this division is down to 4 teams eligible with Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, and WIsconsin.

Great, now all Purdue has to do is get Wisconsin some NCAA sanctions and they got a shot.

How many players on the current roster has Bret called already to lure from PSU?

Looks like a coaching vacancy at Illinois just went up one notch, as well.

In a fairly uninteresting note, this will be the last year where a Big Ten head coach is going to make under $1 million. Danny Hope is scheduled to be the last one to eclipse that number starting next year(and likely will either be fired or get a raise well past that anyways). You would imagine that no one will ever end up lower than that for football.

I just find it interesting that even the worst Big Ten jobs are paying over $1 million a year now.

Then the worst Big Ten jobs are not paying over a 1 million now.

Went to the luncheon today. Pretty uneventful. Denard Robinson made a nice speech.

They didn't touch much on the PSU thing - a couple references.

However, O'Brien struck me as a bit of a red-ass, which could just be the stress of the situation. Fowler asked him if they are taking an "us against the world" attitude and O'Brien just responded "What do you think?" Seemed like kind of a dick answer.

Beckman was unimpressive. Fitzgerald is a very impressive speaker. I could see him win a recruit. I can't see it from Beckman.

Wilson was actually kind of funny. They interviewed coaches 3 at a time. They put Wilson up with Bielema and Hoke. That's a lot of man up there at once and Wilson made a crack about it.

I actually went to the Luncheon with my son. Great time. My son got every coach's signature except Hoke, Bielema and Wilson. Fun time. Really enjoyed meeting Coach Kill and Hope again.

The more I learn about this Wildcat squad, the more excited I get. However, I think 7-5 is prolly still the top range this squad can achieve. NU is fortunate to not have Wisconsin or Bucknuts on its schedule. However, I still predict 6-6 with losses to Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, one non-conf. game (pick Vandy or BC), Nebraska, and either Illinois or Penn State. Can offense expect to achieve the same point totals with Kain Colter? Perhaps, but there are many that think he'll be largely eclipsed by Trevor Siemian by mid-year. There are virtually no expectations on defense. I certainly think we have an opportunity to surprise there, but not enough to overpower all these B1G teams.

I hope I eat my words. Looking forward to the Pizza Pizza Bowl with a 6-6 record.

Syracuse is an order of magnitude better than BC, especially at home. Both the Vandy game and the Syracuse game are droppable. Both will end up around pick-ems. I'd have no worries about BC.

I just looked at Indiana's schedule, and man did they get dicked hard. No Minnesota, and the easiest conference games are all on the road. Iowa, MSU, OSU, and Wisconsin at home. Oof.

I was high on Purdue but I was also assuming Rob Henry would be qb. I'm not so sure now but the defense should be okay.

PSU will lose to either Ohio or Temple. Maybe both.

Ohio State will be better than Wisconsin.

He will be if he needs to be. The logic right now seems to be that keeping Terbush in as the QB and then using Henry as WR/RB/HB/Wildcat gives Purdue the best chance to be tough to cover. They seem very high on Terbush, though I need to see it to believe it.

If Terbush isn't getting it done, Henry will be the QB by the middle of the Notre Dame game.

They are making it sound, at least publicly, that it is Terbush, Marve, and then a big gap. I could be wrong. I really like Henry and think if he's healthy enough to do the wildcat stuff, he should play. But I'm not at practice either.

I don't think you are wrong.

I don't know if you watched the Purdue football preview on the BTN, but it seemed like it was a big government secret how they plan on using Henry. I'm thinking they are planning on keeping it quiet until Notre Dame. If Terbush is performing adequately they'll be able to use Henry like that.

Normally, it seems pretty stupid, but Hope likes putting different QB's out there at different times. I just think that deep down he knows that if things aren't working that he'll stop playing games and put Henry out there. Terbush and Marve will get a shot first.

Purdue starting linebacker Dwayne Beckford has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest Monday, coach Danny Hope said.

Tippecanoe County court records show that Beckford was arrested by the West Lafayette Police Department. The possession of paraphernalia charge is a Class D felony because Beckford has at least one other prior conviction for it, from August 2011 in Tippecanoe County.

He'll be kicked off the team for this. He probably should have been kicked off the team before this.

Looks like Wisconsin just caught up a little to Purdue.
