Yeah, I'm not sure anyone is being optimistic in the exchange you quote given that the Sox play the Royals six more times whereas the Tigers only have them four more times. But it's always nice to see a display of uninformed condescension on the board.

It's funny because I don't think there's any such thing as "Sox fan optimism". Isn't that the entire basis of why poor Rongey's job is so tough? Sox fans are all negative motherfuckers.

You know what I think is cute? Anthony Rizzo and Brett Jackson World Series fantasies. Wait 'til next year!

Sox will lose today. Which will be followed by something along the lines of Detroit losing there next 4 of 5 and sox winning their next 4 of 5. Kind of like what happened back in July.

The White Sox are more like the Gary Cheron era.

Quite possibly the best description of the 2012 Sox I have heard yet.

Wrong. The 2012 Red Sox are Van Halen with Bobby V as Cheron.

No. The Red Sox are the 2003 Hagar U.S. Tour Edition.

An estranged Michael Anthony
A drunk and whacked out Eddie Van Halen
Sammy Hagar fronting the whole thing not knowing what the hell is going on but is having fun cashing the checks.
No one taking any of it very seriously.

The implication is that the Sox aren't getting it done on their own, and they're worried that Detroit has their last 10 games against the Royals and Twins. The optimism part is that the Royals are "finding themselves" and will play spoiler.

Sometimes when your hopes have all been shattered
And there`s nowhere to turn
You wonder how you keep going
Think of all the things that really mattered
And the chances you`ve earned
The fire in your heart is growing
You can fly, if you try leaving the past behind
Heaven only knows what you might find

Dare - dare to believe you can survive
You hold the future in your hand
Dare - dare to keep all of your dreams alive
It`s time to take a stand
And you can win, if you dare

Everybody`s trying to break your spirit
Keeping you down
Seems like it`s been forever
But there`s another voice if you`ll just hear it
Saying it`s the last round
Looks like it`s now or never
Out of the darkness you stumble into the light
Fighting for the things you know are right

Dare - dare to believe you can survive
The power is there at your command
Dare - dare to keep all of your dreams alive
It`s time to take a stand
And you can win, if you dare

Dare - dare to believe you can survive
You hold the future in your hand
Dare - dare to keep all of your dreams alive
The power is there at your command

Dare - dare to keep all your love alive
Dare to be all you can be
Dare - `cause there is a place where dreams survive
And it`s calling you on to victory

The Sox went into Detroit in first place, they will leave in first place. Its been a rough road trip but I still think they get hot again and take this division.

I said nothing about the Sox in my post. But I was fully aware that the Sox have more games remaining against the Royals than Detroit does. Apparently you weren't. But keep trying to justify your uninformed condescension.

I think you have a nice sized diction.

Not as big as Cairo's. But not bad.

I think that description clearly applies to you, not me. You began this exchange by taking an uninformed swipe at me, lob a rather pathetic shot at my diction, then act "saddened" because I interpret this discourse as a bit of a jousting match? The contradictions are pathetic.

But you know what? This argument doesn't interest me and neither do your petty insecurities. Enjoy your day. I need to work.

My insecurities? Dear god man. Fine. You win the internet today. That's always your goal isn't it? To out internet everyone? To bring things like "MORAL GROUND!" into a silly Sox discussion? Jesus man, you take a little Sox/Cubs banter (as I the Cubs fan) that should just be kinda silly and fun and turn it into some Freudian exercise.
Pathetic contradictions... . Mercy. Take yourself a little less seriously will ya? (PS, your "I have to work!" is a little moral high ground of your own, isn't it? As if this is now, after you started picking a fight, beneath you" )
Please, enjoy your big internet victory! You have vanquished an internet foe! Congratulations. The bards shall sing praises of this glorious day!

6 of the last 10 games the Sox have is against the juggernaut that is the Cleveland Indians.

So now it was all a joke! This is classic--it's the IMU Defense. I guess everything does come full circle after all.

If they lose this game, I'm blaming that inning. Verlander was struggling as much as he ever does. He had a deer-in-headlights look when he walked Flowers. He was struggling with Hudson. And Ventura has to run that big oaf. It affects Hudson's approach. Strike 'em out, throw 'em out. You could actually see Verlander swell back up, his confidence re-born. DeAza blown away.

And now it's a tie game.

Did you really think you could throw a big league hitter of Young's caliber the same pitch six times in a row without him destroying you? Kruk and Francona are fucking morons.

I'm listening to these guys call this game and the only conclusion I can come to is that the Tigers are one of the greatest teams in the history of the game. What I can't figure out is how a team so great could be tied with the shitty White Sox after 133 games.
