LIVE COVERAGE
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/chicagosportsnetwork
--------------------------------------
Everybody pick a driver each week. Nobody picks the same driver, picking is first come first served. The thread will be posted weekly. By rule, I get to pick Jeff Burton each week if I am so compelled. The newly released off probation and racelog co-host Keeping Score gets to pick Joe Nemechek every week. Tally up the points of the driver yous pick each week and reset the field after the Richmond race. This will be a 26 week play-in to the Chase For The Cup.
This means there will only be 43 spots available in this contest. SO SIGN UP EARLY AND OFTEN(you mults yous).

Then, starting with the first Chase race at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, the Top 12 posters shall be assigned to the driver corresponding in the SPRINT CUP standings. They keep this driver for the duration of the Chase. The chosen 12 will also get to pick a driver out of the Chase to make things more interesting. And rack up the points for the championship.

Confused? Good. Reward? Yes. A prize of undetermined greatness will be given out after the season.

1. If you pick someone and one of the players ahead of you in the standings want that driver, you have to pick another driver. This will go on for the rest of the season, just like NASCAR. If you don't pick another driver by the drop of the green flag you will be assigned the best available driver based on qualifying. A poster can only have their pick bumped ONCE per week. Your second pick will be protected from getting bumped a second time. Unless someone uses a Dealbreaker award on you.

*Dealbreaker award
This rule has been added to let someone who picks a race winner to be given a Dealbreaker award. It would let the poster either pick bump anyone(except the leader) ahead of them in the standings or take somebodys second pick. It can be saved and used at anytime during the regular season, even right before the drop of the green flag. The Dealbreaker award is a regular season gimmick and none will be given during the playoff season. The awards can transfer to the playoffs, but all deals must be complete by the last regular season race Week 26 at Richmond.

Any players who get their pick bumped or somebody goes and uses the Dealbreaker on them, they will be PM'ed in a timely manner as possible. Dealbreaker awards are able to be bought, sold, or bartered. Players don't have to use them every week or ever use them at all and sell them to players that would really need it late in the regular season. The Dealbreaker may be dealt for straight cash homie, or you can trade some of your points, or work out something to job a player ahead of you in the standings.

Shenanigans are endorsed and encouraged by the Rules Cabal. All trades, deals, and any other kind of brilliant schemes must be presented in the weekly thread and approved by the Rules Cabal for them to be used that week. The value of the Dealbreaker award has yet to been set. I'll leave that up to those involved in the dealings. And let anyone say a single cross word about the Rules Cabal decisions and watch what happens.

2. Driver picking priority will be based off of the weekly standings. Enforcement of rule #1 is ironclad and absolute, unless I feel otherwise or my belly is filled with party liquor. Whichever occurs first.
3. Up to 43 people will be eligible for the contest during the first 26 races of the season. Once the Chase To The Cup starts, only the top 12 will advance to the playoffs.
4. You can sign up and never make a pick, you'll be assigned the best available driver based on qualifying that week.
5. Failure to abide by these rules will be dealt with the most harsh and unfair of judgements by the NASCAR Pick 'em rules cabal, err, committee.

2 races left. Atlanta and Richmond. 92 is now the max points spread. Keeping Score got Denny Hamlin when nobody picked him this week. It still wasn't enough to keep him from being knocked out of the playoffs. KS, boyd, Apologist, CoF, and jimmypasta have been sent away to dream about being relevant to this contest next year, a few weeks after the Bears raise the Super Bowl trophy.

Ajent, Speeps, and RFDC have all clinched their spots in the playoffs. Leaving seven spots for thirteen players. UMN and newper can clinch next week. Everybody below me could be knocked out next week. It's going to have to take two good picks and the 9th-12th place guys to come up with a couple of stinkers. Have at it boys!!

Last year's ONLY visit of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in Atlanta was won by Jeff Gordon's #24 AARP Drives Hunger Chevy. However, he's not who I'm taking Sunday night for the Advocare 500 in prime time. With 3 Top 5s & 4 Top 10s in the last 5 years, I'll try and hit the "Bulls Eye" with this driver.

SHARK's PICK: Advocare 500

just to confirm, outside of personal CSFMB pride or something, there is no real reason for me to make any further picks?

Next years driver picking priority for the first five weeks will be based off of the final standings from this year. The best you could finish now is 14th, not making the playoffs. You can not make a pick and just be given whatever driver is left. It is possible for you to still lose a few more spots in the standings also. Indeed, you are only playing for pride and next years contest. You can still make make picks, get them bumped, make a 2nd pick, blocking other players from taking that driver. Next week will be the last time your making a pick anyway.

*Dealbreaker award ___________

Final regular season race at Richmond nest Saturday night. Denny Hamlin goes back to back with his 4th win, and now most likely will be the driver Boilermaker Rick will have for the Chase For The Cup. Only JJ or Keselowski winning can change his driver. Those two and Tony Stewart all have three wins and take at least 9 points into the Chase. Kahne and points leader Greg Biffle both have two wins. *PLEASE NOTE: This contest is not going to follow the Sprint Cup rules of not allowing the Wild Card drivers to get the race wins bonus of 3 points each. Wins get you in, but can't get the wins points, huh? Indeed, drivers win bonus points transfer with the players to the Chase.

Pick 'em Chase Lineup(subject to change)
Pts. Driver
12 Hamlin
9 Johnson
9 Keselowski
9 Stewart
6 Biffle
6 Kahne-WC1
3 Earnhardt Jr.
3 Kenseth
3 Bowyer
3 Ky. Busch-WC2
0 Truex Jr.
0 Harvick

UMN and newper clinch their spot in the Chase. Peoria Matt, SHARK, doug-ep, mcbrides, and Hatchetman have all been knocked out and will not transfer. Carl Edwards blown motor moves Gloopan down to 13th. Scorehead only needs to pick 35th place finisher or better next week to clinch a spot. That leaves five players with four spots remaining. Less than 20 points separating them. Saturday night in Richmond will set the field for the Chase.

How the hell do you ever dig out of this hole? I tried reasonably hard this year to make educated picks, but when you start so far down, it seems damn near impossible to move up.
