I don't think it'll take long for Bears fans to see what IB and Dave have seen when it comes to Marshall.

Let's keep track of his progress.

I'll personally be blaming Cutler's lack of leadership for Marshall's drops.

Seen? Any fantasy football half geek has read about Marshall's drops for several years.

He needs three to catch up to Victor Cruz.

He drops passes, yes, but that's not the main problem. The bigger problem is that passes to him are incomplete. Sometimes that's a drop. Sometimes that's just a failure to get open coupled with a QB who is insistent that the ball is going to Marshall no matter what (good thing we won't have that problem.)

30 points a game is bad if you only hit 20 percent of your shots. Numerators and denominators count.

Bobby Engram, probably.

Im not an NFL stats guy but doesnt the most drops list usually include the best receivers simply by virtue of getting so many more targets?

Also, Engram? Really? He never reached 1000 yds or 7 TDS

What am I forgetting about Engram?

Last year Marshall had the 13th worst Drop Rate in the NFL, which is a ratio, so the total number of targets the receiver gets isn't as relevant.

That's why I said drops aren't the only problem. And you are forgetting that Engram was pretty much the platonic ideal of a #2 receiver. Which sadly is about as good as we've gone over the years. Marshall is a below-average go-to guy. I'm not sure which is more valuable in the NFL.

I wouldnt say its totally irrelevant.

Over the last 3 years, the lowest drop rate is Earl Bennet.

The top 15 includes guys like: Jabar Gaffney, Kevin Walter and Jason Avant

The bottom 15 includes: Dwayne Bowe, Desean Jackson, Donald Driver, and Roddy White

There has to be a more adjusted stat than just "drops" but I cant find it.

What's Brandon Marshall's career winning %?

Probably not good considering he's been in Miami. What is Aaron Rodger's career win % at home in the playoffs?

I'm saying I care about the Bears winning. If he drops 2 balls on Sunday but the Bears win, then who really cares outside of people who have Marshall on their fantasy team?

He was with Cutler in Denver longer than he was with Miami. Take Miami out of it, I bet his winning % is still bad. Rodgers career win % at home in the playoffs is not good. His overall playoff winning % and regular season winning % is a little better.

Your logic is flawed though. If Matt Forte had 15 carries for 20 yards every single week, but the Bears still went 13-3, you shouldnt be happy with Forte. You would still obviously be happy as a fan, but it wouldnt somehow make Forte a better player because the Bears still managed to overcome that terrible production every week.

I never said I would be happy with Marshall dropping passes and I never said that dropping passes would make him a better player. I just said that wins to me matter more than anything else. That is not faulty anything.

Well yes, thats obvious. I think Cub fans are the only fan base that cares more about one individual players performance than the teams W/L record.

Rodgers has played once at home during the playoffs and he lost that game. Fuck, I guess Packers fans have it tough when their QB has more Super Bowl victories than home playoff wins.

How does knowing a statistic hinder someone's ability to be productive during the day? This doesnt make sense.

A) I was kidding
B) Careful who you talk to like that big guy. I'm not trying to act all tough with you on a message board and you probably shouldn't either.
