The schedules mean squat, even though you'd think Detroit has the easier schedule down the stretch. The Indians might be out of the $$$$, but the last time they played the Tigers, Cleveland took 2 out of 3 at Comerica Park late last month.

The Indians might be to the Tigers what the Royals have been to the White Sox this season. In plain English, they've been real pains in the ass. Then again, Kansas City swept Detroit in their own ballpark the last time those 2 teams faced each other, too.

Season ends October 3. Sox finish with 3 at Indians. Tigers finish with 3 at Royals.

Sox need to win tonight, or it's over.

Here's why I say not so fast. Even if the Tigers win again tonight, any momentum they would have wouldn't mean squat if they lose again tomorrow in Cleveland's (Not So) Progressive Field. Ditto for the White Sox tomorrow night at Target Field vs. the aging Ron Gardenhire & his Twins in Minneapolis.

I'll keep watching the games and hoping for the best, but the Tigers have the better roster right now and the easier schedule.

Without a 2-game buffer going into the final 19 games, I don't see the Sox winning this division.

Uh, have you seen the Tigers defend? They may have the better lineup & pitching staff, but they've been awful defensively.

Yes, the Tigers are in the position they are in because of defense. With 20 games left, I think they'll find a way to go over .500.

I can't say the same about the Sox. No Dunn. Wise is batting 3rd. The regular guys from the pen are out of gas. Robin isn't exactly a great manager.

There just isn't a lot going for the Sox right now. 5-11 the last 16. I mean, I know they've had bad stretches this season and they've turned it around, but it's September. They can't afford to be bad anymore.

The Angels are 10-5 in September and only 3 back of the wild card. I don't see them folding it up.

MLB Network's Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams still has the Angels being one of the 2 AL Wildcards. That's going to be tough in my opinion considering the A's & Orioles aren't going away & Baltimore absolutely clubbed Seattle late last night.

As for Anaheim, there are rumblings & grumblings that longtime manager, the Garth Brooks-looking Mike Scioscia, could be in trouble if the Angels don't make it.

There are plenty of teams (namely Boston) that would love for that to happen. Scioscia is an excellent manager and cannot be blamed for CJ Wilson returning to being a 3rd starter material and Ervin Santana/Danny Haren being poor.

Can Scoicca be blamed for giving away outs?

No. It may be a classic case of what he's done since the Angels won it all in 2002, RP.

Scherzer just left the game after the 2nd inning in a 2-1 game. They haven't said why.

I think the MRI was clean, but it's hard to see how he doesn't miss at least one start.

By the way, FOX Sports has picked up the Sox home game vs. the Rays next Saturday, September 29th. Instead of starting at 6:10P, the game will now start at 3:05P to accommodate "MLB on FOX", according to both CSNChicago.com's Dan Hayes & the Trib's Mark Gonzales, whom SHARK follows on Twitter.

MRI's don't catch everything just ask Johnny Danks. The reason the D'bags traded Scherzer was because they didn't think his arm would hold up with his mechanics. That said I don't see him making his next start either.
