Jay Cutler is a prime example of a flaw inherent in any fan of a team that hasn't won a championship in a certain amount of time: the next "big trade" is the one that makes everyone believe the drought is over.

When that "big trade" begins to not live up to fans' expectations - the same fans who welcomed the player with open arms and wallets - blame starts getting thrown onto the player for being defective. I attribute this to fans not wanting to admit they overreacted, or (gasp!) perhaps they were just wrong in the first place. It thus becomes the player's fault even though he's probably playing like he always has.

I get it. I really do. It happens with any team in any sport.

I would make that Cutler trade again today if it was presented to the me and I have not heard to many Bears fans who think differently. Jay is a top QB, which is essential to success in today's NFL. He is just not elite.

I am converting. I was once a Cutler apologist, but I have very little faith left. He still has a horrible line, yes, but he never learns not to throw directly into coverage, not to step into throws, and the guy is continually horrific in "big" games with good defenses (and the Packers are supposed to be a bad defense). I hope I eat these words at some point, but I no longer have any faith in the guy to perform when it matters or to overcome adversity.
