I've played the Star Wars 1-6 and am currently playing the Harry Potter 1-7 series.
I'll likely get the Batman and Indiana Jones series as well.
I'm totally addicted to these games. ...but I played with a lot of Lego's as a kid. So, that's my defense.
:)

My wife has played both Lego Harry Potter games through to 100%, twice.

I've played the demos of various Lego titles, and they seemed mildly enjoyable. Then again, I am not enjoying Batman: Arkham City, so I am obviously insane.

The first one was better.

Wholeheartedly agree. The sequel seems to be a neverending loop of "find the Riddler trophies" followed by "clear a gargoyle room" then "beat some large boss thing".

Even though the city had the nice open-world feel to it from the get-go...only a few areas felt unique. Most of the exteriors had the dreaded "copy-paste" feel to it (think True Crime: LA), and the interiors were a bit over-the-top.

I did enjoy the larger cast of cameos...but not enough time was spent with each.

I think they tried to expand too much in too many areas from Arkham Asylum.

I agree. Furthermore, the whole addition of Catwoman was just silly to me, especially since you had to purchase her DLC.

There's something to be said about sequels that push the envelope a bit more than simply repackaging the same gameplay in larger volume and then bludgoning gamers over the head with it throughout the game. Yes, obviously you want to keep many of the same elements that made the title so successfull in the first place. But Arkham City felt like a continuation title of the same game as opposed to offering anything really "new".

You bet your blueberry ass they are.

Regarding the thread-hijack topic, the first Batman was indeed much more enjoyable.

I'm not surprised...pretty much true to CSFMB form.

1. Post Thread.
2. Respond to opposing viewpoint.
3. Read 1-10 posts/pages of highjacked material.
4. Post reply related to original topic.
5. Repeat 2-4 until thread is deleted.

Liked the Star Wars 1-6 game
The 1st Indiana Jones was ok
Batman wasn't bad...Batman 2 is pretty fucking fun
Harry Potter can suck Sandusky's left nut, and the Lord of the Rings can go with him

Star Wars was excellent
The first Batman was great
I'm thinking of getting the sequel, but might wait a while

IMU, the single player modes are fun.

They're just fun "run around and do shit" games. No different in concept than what Zelda was or the GTA series...albeit a bit of a stretch in comparable aesthetics.

What you consider tedious and boring, I consider thoughtlessly relaxing. If I want to be engrossed in something, I'll pick up the guitar...

...which by the way, is totally awesome.

Besides minecraft... these lego games are my favorite to play with my children. They like other games, but these games can entertain you whatever your age.

I can play the first couple notes of "Wish you Were Here" and "Blackbird"... and the chords to "Free Falling". After that, I'm useless.

The devil is in the details. In LEGO games (at least the Star Wars ones I've played and the Indiana Jones one I've seen), you go through every level trying to find the hidden blocks...and the goal is to collect every. single. block. you see in order to meet the end of the level goal (100%'ing...)

Oh my god, how tedious. When I was young, I didn't mind 100%'ing a Final Fantasy, collecting all the coins in SMB3, all the hidden areas in SMB World, and unlocking all the costumes in Tekken 3.

I don't have time for that type of stuff now. Give me an engrossing story with solid gameplay...maybe some 'extras' or 'side missions' to do, and I'm good. While I've chuckled at some of the LEGO cutscenes...it doesn't checkmark the 'engrossing story' box...and I find the gameplay repetitive.

Again I'm not knocking the game...they are well put together for someone who wants a different type of game than I.

Dude, you act like there's hundreds of thousands of blocks.

And studs are a dime a dozen. Sometimes they just come flying @ you. I wish getting real money was that easy.

How in the world are you not enjoying Batman? That might be one of the funnest games I have ever played.
