Cena has elbow surgery, off shows for the near future

John Cena underwent elbow surgery today in Birmingham, AL, under Dr. James Andrews. The arthroscopic surgery was to remove bone chips. He's expected out of action four to six weeks. This will also enable him time off to heal his bad left ankle and other assorted injuries he's been working with.

Doesn't it make zero sense that the E didn't do some sort of injury angle with Punk taking out Cena? I know it's your super hero top babyface but they did that type of shit with Hogan all the time back in the day and he would come back hotter then ever. Take Cena out until Hell in the Cell and have him attack Punk then. I'm not sure who they are going to put in the main event right now of the next PPV because you have Cena out for awhile and no other top babyface that would need to face Punk in the cell. It just seems like they are really kind of screwed here.

Agreed. Wasted opportunity. So what exactly are they going to do storyline wise on Monday for Punk? They really blew it. I wouldn't be surprised if Orton gets a push.

Breaking News - John Cena Undergoes Arm Surgery Today (Updated Details)
By Daniel Pena
Sep 18, 2012 - 1:43:23 PM

The official WWE website announced that John Cena underwent surgery to remove bone chips in his elbow today. Dr. James Andrews removed several pieces of bone cartilage from Cena's elbow through a scope. He is going home today to Tampa, Fla. and will immediately begin rehab.

WWE initially stated that it would likely take four to six weeks for Cena to recover from a surgery of that nature. The report now states that he is expected to recover in two to three weeks. Another update on his recovery time is expected be released Thursday when he is reevaluated.

They can still do an injury angle on Monday. No big deal.

For Undertaker

According to F4WOnline.com, The Undertaker is expected to work a high profile match at WrestleMania 29, and his potential opponents are currently being discussed, with one possibility being CM Punk ending the streak and "earning everyone's respect."

Contrary to what WWE normally does with The Undertaker, the company is considering bringing The Dead Man back for the Royal Rumble PPV in January, and possibly having him win the Royal Rumble match.

The feeling is an Undertaker Royal Rumble win along with a title shot at WrestleMania 29 could bring in a strong buy rate for the big PPV.
