LeBron had a much better debut.

I'm with Hank, but only to a certain degree. I'm not sure Luck will be great. I certainly don't think he'll be even above average this year. But I usually defer to people that know more about this than I do so I probably would anyone except the 5 or 6 guys we mentioned for him. I wouldn't feel it was a lock that I just got a future HOFer like RPB and most guys do though.

I don't think I'd trade Stafford for him and I'm not sure the Lions would either.

But LeBron isn't the GOAT.

You just cant afford to trade away a proven probowl caliber QB for a prospect QB regardless of the hype. There is no grace period in the NFL, you can go from bad to good in a season. Any season can be your superbowl run. Not a lot of sports have that kind of turnaround time. To waste any year is foolish.

Greatest of Current Time? At least in the team photo of GOAT?

.

I dont think he's a lock. He could be a bust.

But the odds and risk is worth it to me. Ill risk trading a pretty good 30 year old QB for a guy who has a chance to be great (and the highest chance in decades according to the experts) every day of the week.

Unless I need to win THIS year for sure or im out

Yeah that's fine. But that means I still wouldn't trade Rodgers for him.

One pro bowl, as an alternate.

We arent talking perrenial pro bowler here.

EDIT: Also, the Colts just chose Luck over one of the greatest QB's of all time.

Exactly. With little chance of making another one in the next few years it seems.

probowl caliber talent. Even saying that is kind of meaningless I suppose since so many guys cancel and other guys take their spot. I'm just saying that he has the talent to be great and has proven it on the field. He has good games and bad games but he has been pretty good since being in the league overall.

The Manning/Luck situation is different. Manning didnt get forced out like Favre did, he had a potentially career ending surgery.

Hank we arent talking 5 year plans anymore. NFL QB's can be good right away.

He'll probably be better than Cutler by next season

Define better, stats, wins or both?

Either way, barring injury, I would be willing to make an avatar/sig bet on that.

There are players you can look at and just know that they are going to be great. A blind man could tell that about Lebron.

But to put that tag on Luck is dumb. What has he done so far to show that he is one of those types of players? He was great in college, but so were a long list of QBs that flamed out in the NFL.

QB rating, I guess.

Im going off the experts. I know they can be wrong, but pretty much all of them agreed on Luck being the perfect prospect.

If Belichick could flip Brady for Luck tomorrow, I imagine he'd do it.

That's what I was thinking.

He's all about value.

Plus, that year with Cassel

Well he has been making questionable moves for the last few seasons.

I don't know. Maybe, but I could also see him having the ego to say he can roll with Brady a few more years and then find the next Brady in a draft.

The reason Belichick makes the trade is because he knows he has no chance of finding the next Brady otherwise.

I don't think he cares to, which is why I dont think he would trade Brady for Luck. He's like 60 now. I don't think he wants to coach into his 70's. I think when Brady is done, he will more or less be done. But I've always believed Brady was the only exception to "the Patriot Way". Bill wouldn't betray him like that.
