I cant find his exact quote but it was something to that effect. I heard Mike and MIke trying to spin it this morning that he didnt mean it the way it came out.

I love this part, too. I'm picturing an army of TFMs descending on the lower bowl, nodding beatifically as the rubes finally learn to stop ruining everything for poor Jay Cutler.

As per Dan's twitter feed, the eyewitness was Leery. These fans were really, really great.

Why care that someone thinks that or says that?

Because it takes credit away from the player actually making the play.

He didn't block the field goal because Walter lifted him up. He made a great play.

I believe in God, but I think it's unprofessional for a broadcaster to say something like that during a broadcast. That's my point. Leave that stuff out of the action of the game. It's okay for a broadcast to comment on the tragedy, but to intimate that somehow his brother's spirit is aiding his performance is inappropriate and unprofessional.

The ghost of Walter Payton told the fans to stop cheering when the Bears were on offense. A voice was heard in 60,000 heads reminding them that running the ball is like making romance, so how can you scream the entire time?

Can't that be said for 90% about which Dan complains?

Yeah, I guess.

I just dont get coming away from someone saying "Walter blocked that FG" or something similiar with the thought "Oh man, that is SOOO wrong"

If someone says something like that my reaction would be "Huh, yeah maybe. Glad we won, anyways. Walter was awesome."

I dont think it takes credit away from the player Peeps

That's fair Spark, but in that case why discuss anything at all, ever? Most of the shit we complain about as sports fans are harmless wastes of time to be bothered about.

Does anyone even know if the fans were actually super smart and intelligent during the game on Sunday? Even if they weren't and still dared to breath/talk/whisper/cheer I'm sure we will hear that it was BernSTINE's call for quiet that sparked an intelligence renaissance during the football game and how dumb stupid meatball fans (Everyone but Dan) should take note.

What would we all do without Daniel BernSTINE and his Duke trained brain? I shiver in fear at the thought.

The broadcasters didn't say anything inappropriate or unprofessional about Smith last night. It's very reasonable to believe that, since Smith was so adamant about playing, he was inspired to play very well by the circumstances and therefore maximized his talent in that particular game.

And Walter DID block that FG.

I mean harmless and a waste inside the realm of sports.

7th rder at LT is tragic

Having great middle relief with no closer is tragic

Dumb/childlike fans being dumb/childlike fans is not tragic

Just my take. I dont see the attraction with pointing out dumb people are dumb. Its like picking on the slow kid in class. I prefer taking smart people to task for their stupid comments.

I for one, would still be watching the ball and not the line play to determine who is actually winning the game.

Sigh....you're just another meatball fan. I bet you cheer when your favorite team scores a touchdown.

You need to watch line play. Goff is really, really good at that...I saw him watching like that at a football party once, watched the line like a smart fan. He didn't cheer, he didn't high five like a caveman and he sure as hell didn't have any fun or know what the score was. He's so smart, can you believe it?

I wonder if he'll have sources in the endzone to confirm the fans were behaving more intellegently.. Maybe Laurence will have a few.
