Why aren't the refs getting any of the blame for this lockout? They are part time employees making 150k a year demanding a pension. Plenty of blame for both here. Roger's do a great job growing the game domestically, internationally and at least attempting to standardize the punishment system.

I'm not sure how true that is. The game was ridiculously popular domestically and pretty popular in England before he took over. Not sure he has done much to help that grow. He also has turned his league into by far the most mocked league in sports right now.

The refs don't get blame mostly because the NFL could end this right now without it effecting their bottom line pretty much at all. Billions aren't on the table like with the players lockout.

That's part of this that no one's talking about in this NFL Officials' Lockout. All of these guys have other jobs to put food on the table, sort of speak. To my knowledge, while the regular officials work once a week, they've NEVER been full time and I'm not sure the NFL's about to change it now.

That's a two sided coin though, SHARK

They benefit from the refs being part time (with how they pay them)

If they hired full time referees, they'd have more leverage

In the wake of the fiasco last night in Seattle, you'd think the regular officials now have leverage to get a new deal done with the NFL, right? That's not what I've heard or read.

Didn't make our survey, but OTHER should've been considered.

Because the NFL trying to torpedo their retirement benefits is shit. Why shouldn't a billion dollar industry pay qualified workers fairly? They got locked out, they didn't strike.
