Bent river Brewery in the QCA is celebrating the opening of the Rock Island Location, all beer sales are 25% off, that includes Growlers. Hurry beer is running out. I got a growler of the Double Hop that normally is $14 for only $8. Hurry if you are in the area, repeat hurry beer supplies are running out.

have i ever told the board about my hip hop pilgrimage to galesburg in 2001 where one partially-toothed local couldn't handle weed and "shit got real"?

i'll always remember getting into the hotel bar after hours of driving on ice sheets that were interstates and noticing all the missing teeth amongst the locals and realizing that peoria was their crack distrobution hub. i was prolly naive about meth tho...

well isn't it close enough to count? what are the quad cities? forgive my ignorance it's just that the concept of a bunch of interesting/successful people living in close proximity to each other is relevant to my interests =D

Quad Cities are Davenport and Bettendorf on the Iowa side and rock Island and Moline on the Illinois side.

Nah...if you count Galesburg, then you're getting into the range of Muscatine, Clinton...hell, even Iowa City would be just as close I think...

As for what are the Quad Cities, that's debateable...purists would tell you Davenport, Rock Island, Moline and EAST MOLINE!!! The modern usage throws Bettendorf in the mix, which either makes it five cities or four if you (heresy) throw out the EAST MOLINE!!!

Then you have the QCA (ZOMG, I AM TEH CONFUSE) which lumps in a metric shit ton of inconsequential places that you'd probably never care to visit, unless you are a fan of shows about pickers or enjoy watching people do tug of war across the river.

I'm not sure what interesting and successful have to do with the Quad Cities though.

edit: I see chas doesn't include East Moline...you, sir, are NOT representin'...

hey, i once cried while reading ray bradbury's dandelion wine, so i could probably visit a random suburban chicago human armpit and find something memorable about it. DON'T YOU GO JUDGING ME.

oh wait, i read dandelion wine in county..... judge away! (as literally as you wanna take that. i had 18 days to percolate thanks to the place that aggro sox fan bob calls "the mall of justice")

Quad Cities is anywhere you can get KMXG - 96.1 FM. The best of today and yesterday. You'll love turning it on before going to work and turning it off right before bed. A station you can listen to any time, and all the time!

In 1990 I was at the state fair in Springfield for the harness races. I was sitting next to trainer Joe Holloway's mother who is a veterinarian. She helped me identify lameness and physical issues during the post parades. A very nice lady. I had a pretty good day gambling down there. Then she mentioned that her son's horse, Tooter Scooter, had a huge chance in the Woodrow Wilson Pace that night. This was back before there was an OTB on every corner and for some reason I don't think Sportsman's Park was taking the simulcast. Either that or I thought it would be too hard to make it to Cicero and that Moline was closer. I'm not sure about which it was. It was before the Internet so shit was a lot more primitive. Anyway, my buddy and I ended up driving to Quad City Downs. We got there just before post time and I bet $1000 to win on Tooter Scooter. I think he went off at 4-1. Whatever. A colt named Die Laughing kicked his teeth down his throat. It was a long fucking ride back to Chicago.

I laughed at the dumbest "joke" in Internet history, I jerked off to another White Sox loss, and I posted some stupid smilies.

Before I moved back to Ottumwa a few years ago I lived in Knoxville Il a quiet little town 5 mi. from Galesburg. Proud 1983 grad from KHS. Go Blue Bullets. Galesburg is a crappy shithole. No jobs no hope and looks like a war zone. Lots of public aid and prison folk wandering around the area staking out the next meth lab they can build. People ask why I moved back to Iowa. Sheesh that aint hard.
