More like smelling the air of a car that someone just farted in

I turned the show on as I got in the car.

It was turned off 3 minutes later.

Has it been this bad all day?

I love those spots for 800# gambling hotlines for their MNF picks. Does anyone seriously use those anymore?

No. That was just Berstein's obligatory "being a dick to a caller for no reason" moment.

I called one, circa-2006, just out of curiosity because my coworker and I heard them all day. Well, I spoke with someone at a casino, based off all the background noise. Guy didn't even give me the line. Just said someone would call me back shortly with the "lock." A few minutes later, an elderly man who referred to himself as "The Baron" calls me to ask a few questions about how much I wager, how often, etc., which was nothing/never at the time. I then would receive calls from the Baron once or twice a week for the next month. I never answered them. The one voicemail I remember is him rasping "Gregory, you've gotta stop being scared to answer my calls."

/end JORR moment

It's been okay today, actually. One of those shows where there's a clear inverse relationship between quality and on-topic sports talk.

That's good to hear.

...Next thing I know there's a knock on the door. Same raspy voice, screaming about wanting payment for his time.

I remember a good friend's dad who used to call one line semi-regularly. One week he was travelling for business so he called from the west coast and got one side of the line and when he got home, he was given the other side. At that point, he realized it was all crap and stopped calling.
