Nestor took a step back this year. He's still only 23 so he has time to right the ship. I'm sure he'll play winter ball to iron things out. He'll probably start next season in triple A.

He only had 49 PA's before he got hurt. I need to see more than that to rank him in the top 10 plus he's a first baseman which puts even more pressure on his bat.

It's too bad that the Sox don't have Pujols and Jeter, like on the other side of town.

Not many more boring sports conversations than baseball prospect talk.

If this guy does really well he will move up to the next level. If does really well there he will move up another level. If he does really well for several years he will move up to the majors where, if he does really well, I might actually care about him for the same amount of time it took him to get here in the first place.

An even worse subset of that discussion is projection of prospects. Where a little bit of production is blended with some ambiguous skills to result in a list of people that still have a miniscule chance of ever making any impact on the MLB

All those major leaguers started somewhere, GD. They're not all christened major leaguers the day they put on a baseball uniform. They struggle and fight and work themselves through the system to one day reach the ultimate goal of being a major league baseball player. I love that process and enjoy following the up and down nature of baseball prospects.

Buehrle is almost a star, not that he's really recent either. Then again, developing from a 38th rounder to where he got is impressive.

I'm thrilled the White Sox passed on Mike Trout and saw the upside in Jared Mitchell.
