It's kind of heard to get inside somebody's head, but when he talks about hanging out with "scary black CBA players" I read it as a boast to his childhood friends back in Deerfield, like "Look at me! The brothers let me eat pizza with them!!!!!" I don't think he would tell the stories the same way if it was a bunch of 6'6" white galoots.

I'm pretty sure Stony Island starts or ends at about 56 or 5700 south. He should have checked with Larry. I know Stony Island sounds real scary for all those suburban white folks in Schaumburg, but I think MLK Drive would have done the trick.

I was never really bothered by the excessive PSU talk. The CTE stuff annoys me a tad (right, Tad?), but the White Sox attendance talk is the absolute worst. I have a 4-hour drive this afternoon, so I really hope it's not a discussion point. Otherwise I'll be tuning in to Wilco's Roadcase. People did not want to go. Why do they have to justify that to B&B?

Something else I noticed with all the Hawk/Stone talk the last couple days, and really just in general when it comes to Sox broadcast talk: Dan was talking about how the White Sox courageously "broke the mold" of sportscasting by forgoing traditional broadcasters to just have ex-jocks do both roles with a sidekick. Drysdale and Hawk, Hawk and Wimpy, Hawk and DJ, Farmer and Singleton, Farmer and Stone, Hawk and Stone, Farmer and DJ. Has John Rooney been completely retconned out of Sox broadcasting history? They had a professional broadcaster, and everyone agreed he was pretty good at it. Then he bolted for St. Louis because Reinsdorf wouldn't give him a raise (though Jason would tell you I'm just saying that because Reinsdorf is Jewish), and now you never hear much about the perfectly conventional booth that the Sox had just seven years ago.

I bring this up with great trepidation because now SHARK is going to be like "chomp chomp BRING BACK DAVE WILLS chomp chomp." Yes, we know.
