Two years ago, Illinois & Northwestern played the first football game of any kind at Wrigley Field since the Bears moved out of the "Friendly Confines" in 1970. That game you may recall featured BOTH schools utilizing the West endzone due to safety concerns in regards to the famous ivy-covered wall in the outfield and was won by the Illini by a final score of 48-27 in front of a crowd of 41,058 fans who attended that 2010 game.
Although there aren't any plans to stage another football game at the legendary home of the Cubs at this time, Crain's Chicago Business has revealed that new plans to reconfigure & create as many as 56 new seats behind home plate could be moved to a point where the next football game could be possible to stage.
