Is it any good? They have a $12 for $6 deal on Groupon today.

Nothing special. We went there once. That was enough.

With the groupon, it's a good deal. The burgers are good, the chicken sandwiches are good. It's basically a B1G1 free.

Five Guys is better. At least better than the one in Bloomingdale.

Five Guys is too expensive. Not paying that much for a burger, sorry.

Can't do Smashburger. Won't patronize a restaurant that uses Impact as its typeface.

My little brother has gone the 5 guys in Oak Park a few times. I've never been because I hear it's so expensive.

You'll get out of a Smashburger / Five Guys / Meatheads for the same cost of Jimmy John's / Chipotle / Panera. It is worth the money.

It is a fast-casual restaurant...not a five star dining experience.

Well if we all do Bowling V at the Forest Park Estates, we can all go to Five Guys afterwards. :D

It's not that bad. Every so often I'll spend $10 for a good burger & fries, especially since most fast food burgers taste (salt)watery to me. Maybe once, twice a month.

As for the chains' wavering quality, I can certainly appreciate that criticism.

And as for Smashburger's typeface, it is annoying. Actually so was the "too cool" atmosphere they seemingly(laughably) attempted in there the other day.

smashburger has onion strings that epitomize the concept of 'savory' ... beyond that, just go get a whopper or double quarter-pounder, save some money, and be done with it.

If I am going to pay the kind of money 5 guys charges for a burger and fries, I will go to a sit down place and not have my food want to come right back out. Those places are tooo greasy and costly for what you are getting.

It's not terrible .... finally got around to trying a fried egg on a burger .... holy shit, that's almost a paradigm shift in how one enjoys a burger .... and try those onion string thingies - fries are (basically) fries after all.

I will be sampling Smashburger for lunch today. Will report back later.

For a really good SW suburbs burger, pop into the late-twentysonmethigs/early-thirtysomethings local beerhole&grill "Joe Daniels" at 12218 South Harlem Avenue Palos Heights, IL 60463.

Very meaty Burger, thick, and has excellent "burger texture" that the aformentioned selections usually lack. Catches a nice char on the edge a bit like a nice steak, too.

Waitresses are usually pretty nice-looking as well.

Thank me later.
I highly recommend getting your burger on the spicy chipotle bun Panthro.

Why has Fatburger not made it out to the Chicagoland area? Its greasy as all hell but damn is it good once or twice a year.

It seems somewhat counterintuitive to push all the fat and moisture out of the ground beef in the cooking process. Even if it it cheap, say 65/35 USDI, you'd end up with way less weight than you started with.
