They are wasting it for the most part. Of all the 3D movies I have seen only one has done the effect at the right time. Conan The Barbarian.
I will give you two examples that did not.
Star Wars Phantom Menace: Okay not made for 3D but the climatic battle scenes at the end should have used it but they didn't.

Dredd 3D: The incendiary shoot should have been instead they used it all on the drug effects scenes. They where good but could have done more.

3D is great when it is done properly.

Transformers 3...Prometheus...Final Destination 5 (mediocre movie but really good 3D)

I can agree with this. 3D is a bullshit technology for the most part. Its simply used to include cheap as shit gags like flying cocks in Jackass or whatever they did in Yogi Bear. I'm sure the exceptions like Muppets 3D down in Disney can't make up for the crap that has been put out in the past year or so.
