I for one happen to believe that we do not do near enough for victims in this country and that people that prey sexually on children are the lowest form of scum on the planet. Merely putting them in a cell is not my idea of retribution.

I would suggest moving to Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria, Mali, Iraq, Indonesia, or Afghanastan if you would like to see these types of punishments. These are the countries that are at the forefront of dealing with criminal punishments properly.

That's because of our system of jusice wisely isnt built on retribution dipshit.

Maybe our idea of "punishment" for child sexual predators should be re-thought genius.

What punishment would you want if your 8 year old son was one of the victims Douchebag?

That's pretty fucking stupid, but then again, you are pretty fucking stupid, so it makes sense.

Victims should not take the role of judge at sentencing? You cant have that in just one case. So you thinkn that should be how the system works unilaterally?

Cpguy,

Honest question. Say we amend the United States Constitution to include this PPV Torture for Child Rape victims or whatever punishment that you see fit for people who commit these crimes.

Do you think that would have stopped Sandusky from doing what he did knowing that torture in prison was a guaranteed punishment?

Do you have a serious answer to the question?

If your 8 year old son was victimized by Sandusky, what would you want done?

It depends on the situation. He will die in jail. Thats about as much justice as you can get. He'll never be able to harm anyone else, and will never have freedom ever again. Killing him wouldnt be justice. It wouldnt erase the pain he inflicted anymore than life in jail would. Torturing him would bring us down to a barbaric level that most of us realize is centuries backwards.

I would want him caught, convicted, and never able to do this to another kid again.

Period.

And frankly, I'd prefer if a few inmates did the job in the most sinister way possible.

Seeing that he will spend the rest of his life in jail, this is a real possibility.

I strongly support much harsher sentancing guidelines for child sexual predators including the death penalty.

Being the victim of a terrible crime, you lose the ability to think rationally. I wouldn't want to be the person handing out punishment. Would I want him dead? Absolutely. But I don't think we should be handing off the sentencing of criminals to the victim's families. That would be a terrible slippery slope for our society.

This isn't what this country was founded on. Do you want to go back to a day of posse's rounding up a criminal and just lynching him in the middle of town? I know I don't. What happens when the posse decides they want to round up stupid people and hang them too? You would undoubtedly be the first on that list.

Doesn't answer my question. Make the punishment as crazy harsh as you would like, would that have prevented Sandusky from committing these crimes if he knew his punishment if caught?

TOBY
Mr. President, this next question is on capital punishment, which you oppose:
If your youngest daughter Zoey was raped and murdered, would you not want to see the man responsible put to death?

BARTLET
First of all, it's important to understand the President doesn't make that decision, though he appoints the Supreme Court Justices who do so. What... any... um... All right, I'm not going to say that. I'll just go right to... No, I don't. I think you know that I'm opposed.... [sighs] Let's not do that. I haven't seen any evidence that it's a deterrent, and there are more effective... In my state...

TOBY
Oh, my God.

BARTLET
What?

TOBY
[to Leo] You weren't kidding. [to Bartlet] What's the matter with you? When I left you... I just mentioned your daughter being murdered, and you're giving us an answer that's not only soporific, it's barely human! Yes, you'd want to see him put to death. You'd want it to be cruel and unusual, which is why it's probably a good idea that fathers of murder victims don't have legal rights in these situations. Now, we're going back to school.

No to the former, but I might be open to being OK with the latter.

If that's the case we better make sure then that Sandusky gets 24/7 security because if not, and if he has any contact with fellow prisoners, he is dead.

So if in fact the govt does not do this, isn't the US govt indirectly in the execution business?

And when it happens, who will in turn sue the govt for Sandusky's death?

Wouldn't his rights be violated???

Come on smart ass. Sandusky would be the victim. Doesn't he have rights too??

Let's get the ACLU involved here.

It doesn't matter that he ass raped 20 or so young boys.

He has rights dammit!

This is America remember!!
