No more playoffs for me. 12th title or no, the remainder of these teams merit 0 interest from myself.

Plus fuck St. Louis, if I hadn't already previously established that.

I had a blast admiring their many crumbling grey viaducts and vacant storefronts.

There is no downtown. Their downtown makes Milwaukee's look like Manhattan.

Most of those places aren't downtown. Clayton isn't even in the city. STL is fucked forever by being independent of St. Louis County. It's Baltimore West.

This picture is the essence of dear Saint Louis:

Lofty half-hearted aspirations amidst infrastructure as depressing as any you'll find in Northwest Indiana. Also, fucking baseball. If you think St. Louis is amazing, don't ever visit Cincinnati, because you're going to die of a blown mind.

Thankfully their shiny buildings surrounded by the structural/residential equivalent of a dumpster fire breed the best fans in baseball, so at least there's that.

I like Forest Park. The Hill was cute.

It's weird, though: if you're entering the city from Illinois (particular via Amtrak), you see the arch coming up over the horizon, and you go through all the slums, then it gets kind of pastoral again as you get closer, and you sort of get this feeling that you're entering this capital-letters Great American City with its big Jeffersonian monument and its celebrated sports team, but then the river looks like shitwater and there's just a bunch of bombed-out warehouses and this terrible shotgun shack of a sports bar with AL HRABOSKY'S painted on the side, and that's when you remember that St. Louis is just another gloomy midwestern industrial town that happened to get cut off from the rest of its Great Lakes brothers.

Agreed.

Chase Park Plaza is a beautiful hotel. 4 in house dining options and a movie theater. Plus the CWE is a pretty cool spot. Lots to do in the area.

This team is who I hope Theo can turn the Cubs into. Different faces, same result.....every year. Their farm system isn't ranked high, IIRC, but they always bring guys up who produce.

Maybe Theo can finally have the Cubs play a WS game in their new ballpark.

Wow, bases loaded in first 2 innings for the Yankees and don't score. Both plays very close and could have been called safe IMO

When I last left I believe the Yankees had runners on 2nd and 3rd with no one out and Arod up. They never scored?? What did he do to fuck things up this time?

You can hate the Cards, but you have to respect this team. I can see the hate for LaRussa or the fact that you are a Cubs fan that hates getting beat, but you need to move past those and see that this team is winning, including a hell of a comeback last night. I think they are going to win it all.
