For a guy who garnered a "WTF?" from me when the Cards traded for him, Mujica has been very good...

What did Beltran do to San Francisco fans? They are giving him the business every time he's at the plate.

The Giants traded one of the best young pitchers in baseball for him so he could lead them to the playoffs. That didn't happen then he signed with the Cardinals. Giant fans are angry. Like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli.

They were the Tri-Cities before Bettendorf ascended to the greatness achieved by Moline: you may remember the NBA's Atlanta Hawks once being named the Tri-Cities Blackhawks. Tim McCarver is old and senile, and probably also refers to Japanese people as "Orientals."

No no no...East Moline! Then Bettendorf.

You'll have to excuse me; I've never made it west of Galena.

Now that is what I call a bad weekend.

The 2012 New York Yankees season is one of the most spectacular failures in the history of baseball.

With limited exceptions, I truly would not care if I never see these losers in a Yankees uniform again.

In all seriousness, hard not to love Jeter. Sad to see it happen to him and hopefully he's ready to go come spring

Congratulations on making my list of jackasses on the Chicago Sports Fan Message Board.

All of the little birds start chirping when the greatest franchise in sports history hits a tough patch. I understand that. Chirp away fools.

No worries. You should not be worried about the Tigers.

I am not a Yankee fan, but if they can beat the Tigers that would be awesome.

All they have to do is beat Justin Verlander with a lineup full of quitters (e.g., Cano) and losers (e.g., Rodriguez), and it is a brand new series.

Nothing would surprise me in this year's Postseason.

He is under contract for 5 years at over $100 million still.

Mercy.

Thankfully he said "greatest" franchise in sports history, and not the "smartest."

Can someone explain to me why Mujica got the win last night for St. Louis? Lynn was removed in the fourth. The score was 6-4 after 4, and remained that way through the game's conclusion. Mujica pitched the 7th inning. Why would the pitcher of record not be whoever finished the 5th inning? It's really up to the official scorer's discretion????? Why did I not know this?

This much I know for sure. The Cardinals' Lance Lynn did NOT go the minimum 5 innings to qualify for the win. It's always been that way in the regular season & the MLB Postseason.

That's one baseball rule I'd like to see changed. I'd recommend that if the starter doesn't go at least 5, he is not guaranteed the win (assuming of course that he is the pitcher of record when his team took the lead they never relinquished), but the scorer would still have the discretion to give it to him (as opposed to the current rule where the starter cannot be awarded the win).

No fucking shit. I fucking said that, SHARK. I didn't ask why Lynn did not get the win. I asked why Mujica was awarded it, and not the pitcher who completed the 5th.

Lynn didnt go 5 innings...

...

...I keed, I keed.

Yeah, I havent seen it very often that a starter doesnt go 5 with the lead and that teams holds said lead...but that is the rule. Hard to argue with giving the win to the guy who struck out the side in his inning.

I'm thinking Mujica is this year's Dotel. He struck out the side on 13 pitches

Carp can rake! Apparently removing that rib made his swing better...

...and I have no idea what the point of that balloon thing with his name in it was...
