Besides John Mellencamp, the Eagles, Van Halen (preferably w/David Lee Roth) & AC/DC would be better than Beyonce. They'd fit what the NFL was featuring at halftime in recent years...CLASSIC ROCK!

How is the brunette from taTu holding up these days?

Seriously, what the fuck was with fake lesbians? Granted, their music really sucked, even in Russian, and was only mildly interesting because there was always the thought in the back of my head that two chicks might fuck on stage during a song about forbidden love, but really, was lesbianism all they had going for them?

Maybe Jay-Z will do a cameo. Hell, maybe Cameo will do a cameo. Or that flamboyant rapscallion Steven Tyler!

What better way to represent a league that is 2/3 African-American and under the age of 30. Crusty white dudes in their 60's....

I seem to remember Master P was on Treme. This whole concept would have been pretty cool. NFL would never do it though. Gotta have a megastar to live up to the Super Bowl hype machine.

Let's just run out the old CTE induced NFL alumni, have them play a 20 minute full contact game for a purse of $2M, then watch the hilarity ensue....Ditka could even coach the NFC squad!

C'mon DB, you know the halftime show is supposed to appeal to the tv audience and corporate sponsors, not be representative of the demographics of the league.

All SHARK is saying is that if you're going to have an artist as polarizing and controversial as Beyonce, you could at least balance the ticket with Ted Nugent or something.

The Halftime show best serves the NFL when it can bring in people who wouldn't normally watch any part of the Super Bowl.

Is the NFL really concerned about Super Bowl ratings?

So, yes, they are very concerned about it.

They could hire Tributasaurus, and still have the highest rated broadcast of the year. The halftime show means nothing.

Right after the whole Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake fiasco at halftime of Super Bowl XXXIX in Houston, for about a 4 year period starting with the Rolling Stones performing at halftime of Super Bowl XL in Detroit, the NFL steered clear of envelope-pushing acts in the wake of "NippleGate". Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen & The Who were among the classic rockers that performed at halftime of the NFL's biggest game in addition to the Stones.

If I remember correctly, following the fiasco with Janet & Justin, the NFL also dropped CBS-owned MTV as a producer of the halftime show. They didn't want controversy, let alone the NFL's broadcast partners such as CBS, FOX & NBC all staring at a huge fine from the FCC for indecency.

That gig where 100 people died in the fire must have been really smelly with all that hair.
