Are they a collective bunch of assholes that are proving the wild card system sucks in baseball? Indeed.
You Cub fans certainly didn't have that attitude in 1998 when Trachsel was pitching you into the playoffs. Green is not a color that is very becoming of Cubs fans.
I wasn't even following baseball until 2000, so swing-and-a-miss on that one.

What is your basis for any of this nonsense? Just personal opinion or something? Cardinals arent proving the wild card is flawed. Thats a flat-out dumb statement.
Your anger and jealousy is palpable. I'd suggest just becoming a Cardinal fan. It'll lower your blood pressure.
It's extremely irritating to know that as long as you are within 11 games of the wild card come August, you can dope your way into the playoffs. It's extremely irritating that wild card teams get the first two games (and in a 7g series, the last 2) at home. It's extremely irritating that Cardinals fans, in my experience, elevate themselves to a baseball pedestal anytime I mention I'm a Cubs fan. They remind me that the Cubs haven't won a world series in X years, where as the Cardinals are yata-yata champions. They tell me it's a shame that I'm a Cubs fan, and that it's too bad I wasn't a smarter kid who found better teams to root for. Then of course there's the media-driven sham that they're the best fans in baseball which to their meatball segment is validated via their success.
It's personal sometimes, yes, so if my cardinals vitriol is a bit out there, that's why.
Regarding the wild-card expansion, it's more to do with the dismissal of the regular season. If there's any sports outside of college football that values it's regular season more, it's the MLB, and yet the frequency with which wild card teams are making/winning the world series is pretty remarkable. Obviously the wild card has value and increases drama, but I never felt the addition of another wild card was ever necessary in baseball.

Green green green, Dewski. Do you think the Giants abused the 2-3 format this year? Texas lost a 5 game lead with 9 games left, did they get screwed? The answer to both is a resounding No. If it wasn't the Cards playing you were be pissing and moaning about Dusty Baker and his team. Nothing more than pure jealousy at this point.
False. I was rooting for the Reds/Nationals/Orioles/As because I think it's about damn time the sport has some new blood, new winners. Yet we're staring down the barrel of a DET/STL series. Bleh.
