Does anyone have any experience with bid snipping and the different services and programs?

I have no knowledge about sniping programs, but, I will chime in and say that there is nothing unethical about the practice. I have no idea why it is considered controversial.

The eBay rules are quite simple. They tell you: Enter the highest dollar amount you are willing to pay for this item. When the auction ends, the item goes to the highest bidder at that time.

If someone decides, for reasons I cannot fathom, to enter a bid that is lower than the highest they are willing to pay, then, it is their fault, and nobody else's, if someone enters a higher number before the auction ends.

Don't want to be sniped? Enter your proper bid. Your chances of being sniped will then be 0%.

Simple.

Agree to disagree 24 guy. Just not my style, personally.

I have never bought anything off Ebay but this is pretty much my opinion of it too. I dont see why it is considered unethical or a douche move.

That's cool. But may I ask what your style is? i.e. do you enter smaller bids than what you are willing to pay? I'm genuinely interested - I might learn something.

I bid snipe manually. Every auction that I have won on Ebay was on a bid within the last 10 seconds. I cant help the dopes who bid 20 times on an item, not realizing that they are just bidding themselves up.

My style is to bid a few times. If it's an item that a bunch of people are after, then I really don't like to bid on that item because I know there will be a bunch of bid sniping.....I feel like if its meant for me to have the item, I will win it, without having to do all of that last second bidding. Now I will bid at the last minute, but at that point I've usually given my highest bid.

I snipe manually too. I determine the value of the item and go 2 bucks over. I love ebay.

Except you can't bid yourself up. You can increase your max bid if you're winning, but that doesn't increase the current price at which you're winning.

I got caught at the last 2nd last night on an item. It happens, that's part of the fun.
My Dad just bought a 15' Sea Doo with a 225HP about a week ago. It'll be their new "dingy" for the big boat in Racine.

Bid sniping is always fun to watch as a seller, especially when selling something like an old smartphone. You just know that in the final 10 seconds one or two more bids are going to come through and bump your item up a bit more.

I finally came to the conclusion that it's worth doing because I can't be sitting around waiting for every auction to end. If someone outbids another guy before the end the next highest bidder get an e-mail he's been outbid. Knowing that people don't bid their max you can sneak one in before the end and not give them time to counter.

I have never bid on anything in an ebay auction but I thought the whole idea was to outbid someone in the last minute to get the best deal...see nothing wrong with that...I thought ebay had an automatic bid button to keep bidding as needed up to a specific amount that you decide.

One thing that probably happens way too often on eBay is shill bidding. I've been buying bobbleheads to line a wall in my basement. Some guy in Canada sold virtually every 2012 MLB SGA (stadium giveaway) bobblehead. No matter how high I bid, within reason, on his items, I was outbid. So I stopped bidding obviously. All the auctions end, and what do you know, the guy relists nearly every one a few days later, starting with the prices at which the previous auctions ended. I'm guessing he had his drone or started a fake account and simply bid up the prices on his original auctions. Anytime I get a second chance offer, I decline it because I would guarantee it's due to shill bidding.

The GF moved in recently, so part of that was me moving my, at the time, seven bobbleheads from the second level bathroom to the basement room. She then, foolishly, said she doesn't care what I put in that room. She's probably not happy that approximately 40 bobbleheads have arrived within the last two months.

The nice thing about the bid sniper is that you can adjust your bid as you get toward the end of the auction without showing your hand and you don't have to sit at the computer and wait to place your bid at the end. Once it's set it will place your bid whether it's at 3 a.m. or 3 p.m. With eSnipe you pay 1 percent of the auction price only if you win the auction. If you get outbid you pay nothing.
