The main problem with baseball is that it's really boring. It's also stupid that a sport utterly dependent on massive sample sizes has a playoff system that throws large sample sizes out the window. IOW, baseball is terrible, but playoff baseball is even worse.

Like there is no downtime in football? You can have a run for 2 yards, timeout, another run for 2 yards, timeout, another run for 2 yards, 2 minute warning, commercial, punt, commercial.

6 yards and a 40 yard punt can take 15 minutes. I'm not saying baseball is 100% exciting all the time, but there can be a lot of boring downtime in football too.

Well, that's exactly why I find football boring. I told Ivan and Ajent my feelings and they damn near laughed me out the house. I think I specifically said, "In terms of action, I think hockey is actually more exciting than football." They didn't agree.

There's a lot of downtime in football, but at least the rest of the time there's a lot of action. Baseball is almost exclusively down-time, and even in the rare case that something happens, it's usually not exciting or even consequential.

I think I've brought this up before, but one time, near the start of the season, Baseball-lover Matt Speigel was talking about the greatness of baseball, and he cited a recent occasion where a "chess match" took place between Mark Buehrle and some base runner. The chess match featured Buehrle throwing to first, and the Konerko throwing the ball back to Buehrle again and again. Some find that entertaining, I guess.

See Kid, I'd rather watch pitching change, strikeout, pitching change, walk, pitching change, popup, ground out then 12 minutes of guys skating around passing a puck around with maybe 2 shots on goal and 1 or 2 hits. Just because the players are always moving around in hockey doesn't mean there is a lot of action to me.
