You said ME was a version of 2000. Just wrong.

In a sense, it is. And I won't take that portion of it back. The back-end doesn't concern me as a user. Windows ME is an amalgamation of Windows 98 and the betas that would become Windows 2000. You're arguing against something you think I'm saying...so I'll go ahead and let you continue that if you want.

When you want to discuss what I'm actually saying, let me know.

Rick.

Something I think you said? It's right in this thread! Your words man.

And I have no idea what the Rick thing is about.

Who knew this thread would turn into Win 95 vs. Win 98?

As for Windows 8, I think they are practically giving away the software at $40 or $15 for an upgrade. I like Windows 7 better than Vista, but Windows 7 is really just like Vista 2 with some changes. What's nice is that there are plenty of drivers for Windows 7 since the Vista and Windows 7 drivers are very similar.

Windows XP is still great because it's easy to use, it's not a memory or hard drive hog and there is an XP driver for just about every device out there.

The overall trend starting with Vista is to make Windows more like Mac. I think Microsoft wants to be Apple and has tried to copy them as much as possible.

No hands on yet, just videos and other reviews...but I don't get the UI. I understand we are all on a path where the tablets/mobile OS will merge with the desktop OS, but I don't see why they are pushing the tablet looking OS on the desktop. Should be the other way around, IMO.

Granted, I could have a different opinion if I ever use it.

That's amazing actually. What kept you away from everything in between?

So long as it supports visual studio 2012, it's all good...

I also appreciate the attempt to future-proof windows OS. They needed to incorporate tablets in some way, and they have done that all the while still keeping the start button alive...

See, I don't think the tablet OS and desktop OS need to be merged yet. I still prefer a desktop to be desktoppy.

I haven't used it yet, but the operating system looks horrendous for development. I wouldn't want to code on an Ipad either.

If they don't start now, Apple will own their ass moreso than they already do...

Textastic(pretty much notepad++), and Python(compiler and all) are already available for the iPad, I would love a tablet to code from, but I don't need it. If I could write, debug, and compile c# code from a tablet, I would die a happy man... I'll have to look into this new windows tablet to see if I can do that from there.
