Perhaps a Frank trade in the 90's would have been a good idea for the Sox, possibly for a couple younger players that would have developed into future/present-day allstars... but that would have been WAY too big of a gamble for Jerry's liking. I'm not sure if I caught a possible sarcastic tone there Nas, but I think you and I both know Frank wasn't going anywhere until he simply broke down.

To me, the 2 best options are Thornton and Jenks. What contender (I'm thinking Milwaukee) doesn't need 1 if not 2 good bullpen arms, including a World Series winning closer. We all know its only a matter of time until Hoffman starts throwing his changeup for BP again. Throw in Gavin Floyd, and that would round out the Brewers pitching staff.

Dye and Thome would both be great fits for AL teams that need a DH (Dye because it hurts me to watch him try and run to anything not hit right in his tracks)

Not my first post but the first remaining post. And I'm spraying to all fields...
I think "what's his name" is Tom Shaer.

Quote:
I know they can't cause they signed a Jaques Jones kinda contract with him but you gotta ditch Salisbury (and Rosenbloom). Awful. You just feel like that Salisbury thinks he's just a little better than you. Oh, and get on hotornot.com already and leave us out of it. No one gives a blasted fu*k about if you're hot. We don't care. We're dudes, dude.

I definatlely enjoyed Carmen and Silvy better, and would they not just be a ball to listen to with Mariotti? I know some folks, 'specially Sox fans might think he's a pud, but he does say and write some pretty contraversial stuff, and with a hothead like Silvy it could make for interesting radio. Better than Rome was. Jesus, listening to Rome was like gettting a root canal.

I agree about Patrick though. he is boring and his show has like 15-20 times an hour where I need to look at my radio and make sure it didn't turn off or something, he has so much dead air. I can't tell you how many times I have looked at the radio and shouted "Say something already!!!" at it. He's much better with Olberman. I know he's like a great great grandaddy of ESPN but really man, lets get the ball to someone with a pulse. he's.....just..........too.........damn.........................boring.

Lets also ditch the traffic reports. They're too short to be of true value to the average driver. There are more roads than just the 3 tollways they cram into the 10 seconds they allow. When folks suggest that on this board, they get replies like "Just switch to 780 if you want traffic reports". Well we do, and sometimes don't change back for 15-20 minutes. Oops. Maybe that's one reason why 780 is usually tops of the ratings.

A few questions for the management....

1. How hot is Marti (or is it Marty) Jones? Cause I can't remember one freakin day where she didn't mush mouth the traffic report or the ad copy. Radio people should be a bit more, I dunno, articulate? Do other listeners find that cute or something?

2. Tell me if what's his name got fired for going on the air with a mouthful of shredded wheat. When I heard that I thought for sure he would get suspended or something, then he just never really came back.... and if so what's up wiith the Marti Jones double standard?

Um. That's it.

I had a lot of Pope-related Mike North thoughts that needed a forum.

I'm pretty sure my first post was a response to the passing of HHJ- coming up on four years ago :(

This is the oldest of mine still around- trying to fit in:

I really didn't even know who Mac was before his arrival at MVP- not much of a Score listener. I have enjoyed most of MJH, but hands down Mac's greatest contribute to date has been the skyrocketing popularity of the CSFMB- excepting a few 5-figure-posters, most of us probably owe our cretinism to him and the on-air mentions.

I don't feel like digging it up, but I think my first post was some overwrought bit of doggerel in which I called Beardown a dope. Ironic now that I'm one of the Beardown Truthers.
