I saw the Rhythm Devils(drummers from the Dead, Mike Gordon from Phish, some Janis Joplin-type singer) at the Chicago Theater a few years back. After the show, around midnight, everyone filed out on to State St and there was immediately a minimum of 100 people smoking mostly joints, a couple blunts, and a few pipes and hitters on State St. Pretty soon it was spread out over 2-3 blocks that everyone was doing this. I thought it was pretty funny.

I always thought an NFL game that Weds night before Thanksgiving would be pretty badass. Give the teams their 'bye' the Sunday before, and then they get 10 days before the next game as well.

Don't worry. Within 10 years Goodell will have an NFL game on every night of the week while simultaneously bragging about how much the league cares about player safety.

But generally people arent off on Wednesday so they cant be out there shopping at 3AM. The system now is sound. STAY THE COURSE!!!

That's their choice. I would never skip Thanksgiving to go shop. That sounds like an awful idea. If someone thinks it sounds like a good idea, go for it. It's silly to tell someone Thanksgiving is more important than shopping if they don't believe it is. They have the right to that belief.

As far as employees go, as long as they are informed of the job requirements and know about them when they agree to work there, I don't understand what the big deal is. Maybe some of them prefer to work those days if time and a half is given and they need the extra cash.

I would cover for SHARK, Drop In, Dave in Champaign, my Mom, and Urlacher's Missing Neck. After that, the list gets pretty thin. There are a few people about whom I would definitely fabricate charges.

I think it's understood that when you work retail, there's a possibility of working on some holidays.

I worked retail back in the day and had to work some major holidays. I didn't bitch about it. I did my time and a half and enjoyed the extra hours on my paycheck. Not sure what your complaint is.
