We know Campbell can at least throw the rock. Had two games last year of 300+....both were losses but still.

We know he throw the rock 3 yards in a Bears uniform.

It was maddening to watch him in Washington. Dude has athleticism but rarely uses his legs. He would rather throw to the flat or out of bounds, rather than run for ten. He's very much a game manager. Doesn't take too many risks.

I think the Bears can win but it will because of the D if they do.

Campbell just has to avoid the mistakes and they can win.

Remember he will have a week of practice with the first team instead of being thrust into a game at halftime.

This is frankly the least shocking news since the sun rising this morning in the east.

He was playing well when he got hurt last year. He also knows this and maybe one more game is a chance to show the rest of the NFL he is over his injury and it will only help his prospects this offseason.

In other words, just like every other game this year aside from the Colts.

It's probably best for Cutler not to be out there. Maybe it's just me but ever since he starting playing in the Mike Martz offense it seems like Cutler holds the ball too long and gets abused in the pocket. He seems unwilling to throw the ball away. Given Cutler's last performance in San Francisco I think it's best for him to sit this one out.

I think everyone believes that Campbell is a solid backup even though the last game was pretty awful. With a week of practice reps I think we should know for sure after this game whether Campbell is a good backup or not.

I will agree with the first, but the second is only partially true. SF should shut down Forte without too much issue, so you need Campbell to not only not make mistakes, but to also throw the ball downfield. This checkdown for 3 yards to Spaeth when you need 6 for a first down isn't going to cut it.

Win or lose I will say campbell is a franchise Qb with a crape o line and bad receivers and bad o coordinator etc. If he can actually rally the team to perform then it is just the spirit of jcut taking over.

Yeah, I'm a Raider fan and last year he would checkdown way too much. Led them to a 4-2 record before getting injured though.

No Alex Smith either

http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/ ... ed-sources
Quote:
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith will not play Monday night against the Chicago Bears because he he was unable to get clearance from a neurologist one week after suffering a concussion, according to sources.

Colin Kaepernick will start in Smith's place in a game that will also feature Jason Campbell as the Bears' starter because Jay Cutler has been declared out, also because of a concussion
