Another day, another "isolated" incident. At least they didn't bring a fucking tank to this one.

An FBI SWAT team stormed a family home in District Heights, Maryland, yesterday at 6 a.m.

Agents fired at an unarmed 18-year-old woman in what appears to have been a no-knock raid. Via ABC 7:

“They almost hit my daughter, man,” says Emory Hughley. “If I hadn’t told her to go back in her room they probably would have shot her.”

Hughley says he was asleep in the basement when he heard a bang at the front door. His 18-year-old daughter Myasia was upstairs in her room with two friends who were spending the night. Around 6 a.m. he says he came up to the living room and saw 15 FBI SWAT agents coming inside, guns drawn.

“I’m shouting ‘Nobody is armed, nobody has a gun!’ and then all of a sudden I heard ‘She’s got a gun!’ and they just opened fire,” he says.

Hughley says he looked up and saw his daughter standing outside her bedroom in the hallway. Then he heard gunfire.

“I’ve got eight holes in my wall. One bullet went past my head, almost hit me, ricocheted off my brick wall and some of the shrap metal hit my little daughter in the back of her neck, all for nothing.” says Hughley.

Myasia was treated at a local hospital for a flesh wound and released. The Hughley’s say none of them were armed an in fact, none of them own guns. They were never told why their home was raided.

Myasia, a college student, had two friends sleeping over. Her brother was in the house as well. According to an FBI agent, her injury came from a fall, not debris from a bullet.

College students. Probably on break. or they could be CC students.

So the family was totally innocent? They just went to a random house and shot the place up for fun?

Hey Joe you got any plans for SWAT team 17 tonight?

Sure dont.

Well go ahead and draw a name out of the phonebook and have them suit up and practice on some half asleep family.

Sounds good boss.

Totally random guess, but 14 year old son making random internet threats and thus targeted?

Still poor work on the behalf of the FBI...or it sounds like it....but going to agree not totally random act.

How much do you think this family gets to shut up?

The FBI has been known to knock on, or break down the wrong door before.

Yeah, hence my comment in the OP.

Hank, are you really surprised that the FBI acted aggressively and irresponsibly on faulty intel? There's a story like this in the papers every few months.

It never really says anything about this being the wrong house. Just that they shot at a supposedly unarmed woman.

I'm sure that these things happen but I would have to believe there was some reason they were there in the first place. Probably faulty intel that could have been verified with some additional work but what if the intel was a terrorist cell that was heading out that morning to bomb the Empire State Building. In that case you dont have the luxury of time...

I have no problem with them being there and kicking the door down if they thought terrorists were there. But whoever shot an innocent woman should lose their job. There's clear rules of engagement, they were obviously broken, and there should be consequences for that type of failure.

Yeah, but if I hear someone bust down the door to my house, I'm not coming out of my room empty handed. In the dark, you cant see what she's holding... I dont know man. I just would like to hear the other sides spin to the story before I condemn law enforcement just on the grounds that they are law enforcement.

That is the trick. If someone busts my door down especially as I am in bed I reach into the night stand by reflex. So they go to wrong house (if they did) and I am the bad guy?

Im not condemning them for being law enforcement. Im condemning them for fucking up and shooting an innocent person. They are trained not to do shit like that(Im assuming their training is similar to the military). Whoever shot the innocent 18 year old should lose their job, nothing short of that should be acceptable.

I'd say whoever ordered the rain should lose their job. The guy who shot her was likely way down the order chain and was just following orders.

They could call CCR if they want assistance in stopping the rain.

I highly doubt they were following orders. There is always a mission briefing, or something similar to that, before any of these are conducted. There's a clear set of ROE that everybody on the mission knows and fully understands. Positive ID is always required in any set of modern ROE. The shooter obviously didn't have positive ID, therefore he obviously broke the ROE. I understand he has a very difficult job. If he's not up to it, give the job to someone else. When mission failures have human casualties(I know she didn't die, anyone shot is technically a casualty), there needs to be people held responsible. Like Hank said with the terrorist example, whoever was giving orders for this likely had faulty intel. Maybe they didn't vet it thoroughly enough and should recieve some type of reprimand, but it's clear to me that the shooter fucked up big time and definitely deserves some type of professional repercussion.
