My Ase. If cutler was playing he'd stiil hold the ball too long and get his Ase kicked the way Campbell is. Only then every one would make excuses--bad o line--bad o coordinator--bad receivers etc. Its easy to say Campbell sucks but how can you say cutler would be better tonight?

You're making my point. My point is the line sucks, the OC is bad and the WRs are bad, independent of Jay.

Tonight, they would all suck. But Jay > Jason. Because he is better.

Because he's a better quarterback than Jason Campbell.

True. If Campbell were full time qb, they'd have the 31st worst passing offense instead of the 30th.

Agreed.

I don't think Cutler is good.

But he's miles better than Jason Campbell.

Is there an available quarterback that woud do noticeably better? My point is, I'm not sure it matters who is under center.

See, this is the thing about evaluating Cutler. Sure, the offense isn't good with Cutler. But any time anyone else runs it, it's barely NCAA-level. It's like, miracles have to be worked to even put together a single decent drive; everything has to break right, and the QB has to be masterful. Anything short of that, and well.. tonight.

Where was Jay on the sideline during the game? I think the offensive line would have played better with some positive encouragement from him and I think Campbell could have used his veteran guidance, but selfish Cutler was nowhere to be seen as usual.

Well, if this is true it will make the cutler contract extension decision a lot easier.

Him and McClellan weren't medically cleared for flight yet.

Plus, Cutler allegedly had an MRI on his neck this morning, with vertebral injury said to be a main fear.

A real leader would have taken Amtrak and been there to support his teammates.

It almost doesn't matter at this point. You've basically got to replace all 5 lineman. Yeah, all damn 5. Not a one of them is better than average, and the less-bad of them are generally aging. How many years will it take for the O-line to even be mediocre? It's hard to imagine less than two, even optimistically.

You have a short memory. That's the same thing that has happened all year. The only difference was the defense didn't score twice and they weren't playing a pathetic team. The Bears still had the garbage time td drive.

Of course Cutler is better than Campbell. It's not exactly a compliment to say that Cutler is better than a backup QB who failed out with two other organizations already.

The Bears just played a superior team who didn't give the ball up. It's going to happen more times this season.

Nas, I didn't make a single excuse for Cutler there. I am pointing out that there are other problems with the offense that you seem to ignore. You want to make Cutler out to be the scapegoat and that is just flat out not the case.

I'm not ignoring them at all. I'm just focused on what I see as the primary problem. When the season started I thought Cutler and the offense would carry this team because he got pretty much everything he asked for. That hasn't happened yet. This team would be under .500 if the defense wasn't so dominant.
The primary problem is this the putrid OLine, which contributes greatly to a poor running game and some of the poor QB play. Jason Cambell did not play very well at all yesterday, but on most of the passing plays he didn't have a chance. 2-3 steps into his drop, guys were right in his face.

I would normally be careful around a 6'5" black guy, but if I even got into a scuffle with J'Marcus Webb I's reasonly sure I could run by him pretty easily. Same goes for the white block of silly putty on the right side of that line too.

The other HUGE issue is WR separation. On the plays that Campbell didn't get sacked before completing his drop, the camera angles we were given showed no one open. Marshall continually doubled, and no one else with separation of any kind at all. That first INT was a garbage throw by Jason, but Hester's route was embarrassing. Seems to be a common theme this season. Other than 15, no one can create enough separation to give a QB the confidence to throw to them.

Not to mention that when the guys have been open, they have all (#15 included) dropped a lot of passes.

Hester is done. What did he lose, 15 yards on that one punt return? Pathetic.

At least. I think it was 17 or 18 yards. How stupid do you have to be? He runs back like 5 or 6 yards, and then stops, and runs back some more. It's inexplicable.

I was one year too early on his complete ineffectiveness, but you could see Hester's decline happening for the past few years. He's probably cut in the offseason.
