IF Cutler is done for this season and Lovie states "Jason is our QB" over the next 6 weeks while watching inept QB play much like last year,it could be Emery's excuse to bring in his own guy. Josh McCown was respectable last year and might have helped the Bears win some of those tough losses last season,if given the chance.

Despite tonight,I would give Campbell one more start. I can't believe he is this bad.

So they can savor the feeling of being in first place?

If we can pad the stats up 25 why not pad them when down 25?

Lovie should be given an extension.

Good call Jimmy. If Bears fail to make playoff, Lovie could be GONE.

Hatchet....I've heard various football people who said that even if they don't make the playoffs, Lovie will be back. As hard as that is to believe.

Where does that come from? I mean why do they adore this guy? The Texas drawl? The religious man with a massive ego?

The guy is around because this organization is in love with mediocrity. Maybe not even consciously. But Lovie absolutely fits that in every area. Not fun or impressive to listen to, watch, or be a fan of his teams more often than not when it all shakes out.

This would have made him indictable in most cities, 3-4 years ago.

Polite, stays out of trouble, wins more than four games a year.

See now this is just dumb. I get people are mad at Lovie and want to see some change.

Granted he is not a great coach, but to compare the man to Jauron is just ignorant.

Is it? I find them similar. They both have gentlemanly, decidedly un-"coachy" demeanors. (EDIT: To be more on the nose: they're not Ditka.) They both trade on a pseudo-cerebral approach to the game (more so than the typical "game of brains and brawn" bloviating). They both seem pretty insular in their hiring of subordinates, preferring to be reinforced than challenged. And despite all the talk of being cerebral gentleman, neither one can articulate a compelling thought. The only real difference is that Lovie Smith is a competent NFL head coach and Dick Jauron was incompetent.

I guess an apt way of summing it all up might be that both guys look very appropriate standing before a backdrop with Cadillac logos on it.

Jauron is 62-80 with one playoff game in his career.

Lovie is 78-60 with 3 division championships and a superbowl appearance.

Ignorant.

I know it seems like an odd word to use for something as results-oriented as football is, but to dismiss any comparison simply because of record disparity is pretty superficial. If you don't think Jauron and Lovie both appeal to the McCaskeys' sense of aspirational gentility in the same fashion, then I don't know, man.

If you don't think you and chas share the same views on illegal immigrants and our border because you share the same font on this message board, then I don't know, man.

The next time you blindly defend Cutler, I'm going to post this exact quote, with Cutler replacing Lovie.

See above, in Denver.
