I believe there is a difference between having the government doing this and charity organizations. Perhaps chas believes charities can more efficiently redistribute wealth.

There is a huge difference. I hope B-Mac wasn't trying to equate the two...

It is the fact that the government usually fucks shit up.

Yeah that was a bad comparison.

Hey KeePeeScorr, I want you to remember this next time you complain about groupthink with less than popular posters.

I am totally shocked when people stick up for me around here. Even when I post facts from like government sites, I get blow back.

And charities do a 100 times better and more efficient job than government does in helping people.

If a charity ran their charity the way a government ran their offices they would lose their charity license.\

Ask anyone who has worked with both government offices helping poor people and with charities helping poor people.

It's not even all corruption either. It's endless layers of bureaucracy and paperwork in government.

I have no idea what any of that means, but just to clarify, I thoroughly enjoy both chas and BabyMac, and pretty much can't stand Peeps. I hope this helps.

The feeling is mutual.

Charities, and the government have very few success stories. It's more about giving fish, just enough fish to keep someone right where they are.

No what is bizarre is that Chas rails and rants about entitlements and health care and every penny that the government dares give the less fortunate, but his job is to collect money to help the less fortunate.

Dude. You don't see a significant difference here?
He's not TAKING money from people against their will. They are giving it of their own free will.
The govenrment takes money from people with the threat of jail or fines and penalties if you don't pay into their charities.
Chas doesn't think the less fortunate don't need help, or shouldn't get it. He simply doesn't believe that the government should be in that business.
Why are you so blind in your hate for him that you can't see that?

That's not really bizarre. The first one is about taking from people to give to the less fortunate. The second one is about asking people to give to the less fortunate.

Chas seriously. You are one of the most hate filled people on this board for those that are different from you. Please don't sit there and tell us what is in the Bible.

And yes. I do donate my time AND money to charities and the less fortunate.

Just a hunch, but I'm betting you are one of the people who is getting a paycheck from the SA for ringing the bell. Not volunteering your time.

What do you consider a success story? That's really what it comes down to. The overwhelming majority of people that are on government assistance or getting help from charities aren't doing it because they believe it's a glamorous lifestyle. Wearing used clothes and staying in a shelter isn't where anyone wants to be. Many are probably ashamed that they have to do it. The overwhelming majority of people receive temporary assistance from charities or the government to help them get back on their feet. Helping someone get back on their feet is a success story to most.

A success story is getting off assistance. I'd be interested in statistics of number of folks who get off governement assistance if you have them. I do not have the slightest idea what those numbers would look like.
Yeah, I know it's not something that's glamorous to do. At least, not if you're not Bone THugs n Harmony  WAYGUP WAYGUP WAYGUP  Sorry just kidding.

Well, the news is still a TV show. They still have to find ways to get people tuned in. That's just one of them. Not really anything new.

I don't know about you, but as a driver I'd rather have people being cautious in the snow than driving like they're in the Indy 500. You know...safety and all. There are a lot of people driving with kids in the car too.

Explain how I hate people who are different than me? Islam, yup I don't like them because of what they stand for and do. That is about the extent of my dislike for people different than me.

What charities do you donate time and money to if you don't mind elaborating please.
True I get paid, what do I do with that money well. 10% I give to my tithe. I also but a gift for Angel Tree and Toys for tots plus I use all the money to buy presents for my family. Very little of the money I actually keep for myself. I volunteer for the Food pantry and the homeless stuff.

Sam,it is true that the Army is not progay, that is because of the teachings in the Bible. They are not alone in this, almost every Christian group is.

Your ignorance of the Islamic religion is both depressing and not surprising.

The first charity of none of your damn business. Besides. You've now openly said that you get paid for ringing the bell. That's not donating your time

So you consider buying presents for your family charity? Is that like Mitt's sons didn't serve in the military because they were performing a higher service by serving Mitt's campaigns?

Very little of the money I actually keep for myself. I volunteer for the Food pantry and the homeless stuff.

We've been over this before, but Jesus didn't say one damn thing about homosexuality. Keep on trying on that one.

Huh,where did in this thread did I rail about handouts. This thread was about people complaining about the cold when not dressed for it,until your dumb ass hijacked the thread to try and mess with me. More and more people are coming to see what kind of jackass you really are.
So I take it we will not find out what charities you donate too? It is amazing you can not see the difference between giving charity freely and being forced to do so

Ignorance of the Islamic faith, how so show me where I have proven"my ignorance"

I knew you would not divulge what charities you are involved with because they do not exist. Or do you give to the People Fund?
Definition of charity
1 : benevolent goodwill toward or love of humanity
2
a : generosity and helpfulness especially toward the needy or suffering; also : aid given to those in need
b : an institution engaged in relief of the poor
c : public provision for the relief of the needy
3
a : a gift for public benevolent purposes
b : an institution (as a hospital) founded by such a gift
4
: lenient judgment of others
Giving presents to family us defined by 1 and 2 so there yah g
As for the gay shit,it is part of the Old Testament. I do not agree with people who condemn gays for who they are. I am not the one to pass judgment on them,God is.

Um,I give of my time to the Food pantry and the mobile feed the need unit. Plus,I donate money to my church and others for example Angel Tree and Toys for Tots. Or is that not good enough for you. I probably give a greater percentage of my income to charity than you do.

Chas all you have divulged for your charity work in this thread is that you give money to food pantrys and "the homeless stuff". Along with getting PAID to collect money for SA, which is not giving your time, it's a paid position.

Use the search function for the stuff on the bible and homosexuality. Cause I'm not researching all the verses again. I pantsed you on it once, go find that and just link to the thread.

Huh, I stated that I work in the food pantry and the mobile pantry, look the posts over again sir. I also buy Angel Tree and Toys for Tots.
You need to seriously get a clue.
Can someone else please explain to McNown the words I have written down please. I keep saying the same thing time after time and he does not get it.

What's the endgame here?
The guy is helping out. He's doing good work.
He's doing more than 99% of the people here.
