Look for Cutler's play to suffer as a result.

Chicago Bears right guard Lance Louis will miss the rest of the season because of an anterior cruciate tear in his left knee suffered Sunday, a league source said.

The Bears announced Monday that Louis has been placed on the injured reserve list. The typical timeline for recovery from an ACL tear is eight to 10 months.

I dunno, maybe they should sign a guy off some team's practice squad.

Lance Louis better watch Derrick Rose to gauge how well he will come back from this injury.

Did Lovie report this yet? If not, I refuse to believe this non-story until it's reported THE RIGHT WAY.

Oh yeah, that's a definite cheap shot. Allen's gotta hear from the league on that, doesn't he? Did he stand over him and pretend to tie him up in a lasso too?

Strange thing is, it doesn't really look like one of those obvious knee injuries where his cleat sticks in the ground for a long time.

Really. He can do that, but Cutler calmly flips the the ball in the generally direction of a defensive back (not AT him), and he gets a 15 yard flag.

Left his feet and launched himself at him, isnt that automatic fine / aspension?

That gif reminds me of a lot of the bad hockey hits. Even if the hit is needed, do you really need to leave your feet with such force as to injure a defenseless (i.e. not looking) player? Pro athletes talk a lot about respect, but they routinely decline to respect their opponents. Since this happens so often, I only assume to be a pro football player, you lack the gene that is in charge of compassion and fair play.

Frank, that was quite possibly the worst 15 yard flag call ever.....you couldn't have been nicer in tossing the ball.

Frightening. That is exactly what I thought at that moment. :?

What would happen if a OL layer a hard-core, pancake-type block on some guy that wasn't looking, then knelt down next to him and pretended to tie him up in a lasso and then threw his arms up in celebration afterward?

In contact sports like hockey and football, when you hit someone, you are trying to hit them as hard as possible. They do not care about safety, until after someone gets hurt.

I don't know why anyone considers blocking a cheap shot. It's not like he went at his knee.

We here in Chicago dont have to worry about that type of thing happening.

It was clear he was going for a head shot. We'll see if they suspend a star player.

Mike Pierra (sp?) was on right after that hit and said it was an illegal hit, he will almost certainly be fined and/or get docked a game.

Again, if you think it's ok to hit a guy as hard as you can when he clearly can't defend himself and when being more cautious would not impact the play, then you we'll have to disagree on human decency. After seeing so many hockey stars knocked out needlessly because goons think it's ok to clobber a defenseless person, I changed my opinion on assumption of risk and sports. There has to be a point where you respect your opponent enough to not send him to the hospital because it's allowed by the sport.

So why does his head jolt back like he did in that gif?

Go punch yourself in the shoulder and see what your head does. Now, punch yourself in the head and see what your head does.

He hit him in the face with his shoulder.

I am all for Hillbilly Allen getting suspended for a game. He needs to watch from home next week.

In hockey, they'd tell Louis that he should have kept his head up. He should have been more aware of his surroundings.
I'd be surprised if that generated a fine. Looks clean to Darko.

In hockey, Allen would be suspended multiple games for leaving his feet and launching at the head of an opponent.
