Hmm ... it finally resolved for my brother (I didn't ask how, or I don't remember) .... the page I found that pic on seemed to indicate that a re-boot of the system would mend the error .... can't speak to the veracity of that though .... where I'm at currently I'm fairly handicapped as to accessing gaming news (corporate filters ftw).

Anyway, I hope that loot thing shakes was referencing comes to fruition .... the game seems to be rather chintzy on really good weapons ... lots of nice ones I reckon, but few real game-changers ... between my 4 characters (well, I guess 5 now), I've only ever gotten 2 MAYBE 3 orange weapons.

Did anyone have a problem d/l'ing the mechromancer? I didn't happen to, but my brother did ... apparently others had a similar problem ... which looked something like this:

I had that as well. I just clicked out and clicked it again and BOOM. 'Twas free.

Anyways, where is everyone in the game? I just beat Captin Flynn or whatever and just arrived in Sanctuary. I'm gonna get some solid play time this weekend because I want to start slaying fools with my internet brethren.

Sweet, I preordered the game so I guess that means I get the new character for free. And I just looked and despite my best efforts I did NOT throw away the receipt with the code on it!

So does this just entitle me to the new character or do I also get the golden key as well? Apparently the golden key opens up that locked loot chest in Sanctuary.

Hell I can't remember for sure, but I think pre-ordering gets you the free early guns, the girlfriend character, and I think another golden key .... note that the golden chest levels-up with you, so don't necessarily run to it and open it (e.g., wait for later).

Cool story, bro' time .... I was in a corner of the internet polite folks don't frequent, and it said (essentially, but quite dryly) here's a steam code, and listed one for each platform (PC, PS, XBox) and said it would work for three hours and it was for a golden key. Too good to be true, I tried it anyway, didn't work (shocking, I know) .... then it occurred to me that I might need to register with Steam and then try it inside the Steam code menu in the game .... long story short, I'll be damned if I don't now have 3 keys for each of my characters!

This, of course, is the extent of my good luck for the year, and I suspect they'll be chopping my leg off soon enough, or something like that. I'm thinking about getting old chair legs with casters on them, so I can go down the street Gumby-style ... haters gonna hate ...

ok, I have the code now here's a crazy question, where the fuck do I enter it? I have the PS3 version. Do I do it somewhere in the game menu or the actual PS3 menu or do I have to go to the PS store?

Seems like a strategy to level up quicker is join one of your buddies who is much higher ranked and just benefit from the higher XP count. The problem is, you'll die a bunch and the loot will be stuff you can't use until later... but you'll level up quicker.

You are the first one to ever discover this being possible in an online game that features experience points as a gameplay mechanic!

I have no doubt you will be contacted by a video game developer in the near future to lend your keen eye in helping to create one of the next popular multiplayer games.

:)

Yeah... i know. Some online RPGs with XP don't share the XP like Borderlands 2. Gotta remember, I'm kind of an online RPG newb. I don't MMORPG ever. All my RPG stuff I've done has been single-player.

So I got the pre-order stuff and got my golden key. Turns out I have two golden keys cause I accidentaly signed up for a shift code from Gearbox which gave me another key. So the question is, when should I use them? I'm level 20 now. the fact that you get better weapons the higher level you are kinda makes me want to wait, but for how long?

I haven't even looked at the new character yet, any word on how the mecromancer plays?

AFAIK, the only way to get more keys is through the various developers' Twitter accounts ... e.g.,

https://twitter.com/DuvalMagic

Which is almost certainly where that code I saw someone post elsewhere must've come from.

Hmmm .... another link, included in the account above ....

http://www.gearboxsoftware.com/community/articles/951/borderlands-2-golden-keys-incoming

would seem to lay out the time (or timeframe) that they will be "handing out" keys today and tomorrow.

For your convenience ...

This weekend, we'll be handing out SHiFT codes that can be redeemed for a Golden Key in Borderlands 2 on the Borderlands Facebook and Gearbox Software Twitter!

We'll be posting five sets of codes across 24 hours, specifically:

Friday, October 26 - 6PM CT (What time is that for me?)
Friday, October 26 - 11PM CT (What time is that for me?)
Saturday, October 27 - 5AM CT (What time is that for me?)
Saturday, October 27 - 11AM CT (What time is that for me?)
Saturday, October 27 - 3PM CT (What time is that for me?)

Each code will be active for three hours from its initial posting and will be usable once per account.

To learn more about SHiFT codes, Golden Keys and how to redeem them, visit support.gearboxsoftware.com

DonTiny, I take those "Golden Keys" are the same that you need to open, say, the chest in the fast travel station in Sanctuary?

Yes sir ... one and the same.

I decided (at the time) since I had 3 keys, I'd open the chest when I went to kill Jack (or whatever ... avoiding spoilers as a courtesy), and not only did I find the items worthless (they were mods I ain't gonna use cause I like what I got), they were only purple level.

What little I've read about that chest indicates to me that, most of the time, it's going to be disappointing, if not outright lackluster items .... that's not to say you'll never get bright-ass orange I guess, but I don't think it lives up to either the hype or group expectation was, which was essentially it would belch ungodly things that would make you anally lactate with joy.

Speaking of that, I just had a couple of McDouble's, and I need to go attend to the end result of that choice.

I have returned after much success. I happen to be here, so while the damn xbox is applying some update, thought I'd paste the codes here for someone's convenience ... remember, they're only good 'til 9pm tonight, and I'm 99.99% certain they have to be entered inside the game, not on the xbox front page (where you can redeem codes for other things).

PlayStation 3 SHiFT Code for a Golden Key in Borderlands 2: CBW33-XSB53-JCK53-HJCTB-9XC66

Xbox 360 SHiFT Code for a Golden Key in Borderlands 2: CJCT3-K3C9K-XSRTF-WFTTJ-JW35J

PC SHiFT Code for a Golden Key in Borderlands 2: WTKJJ-566JC-WXJT3-BTJT3-6BTBH

So with the convergence of having many keys and also reaching Lvl 50 w/ Axton, it was finally time to see what the highest spawns in the Golden Chest might have to offer.

Mostly a bunch of shit I ended up selling, as it turns out. I think I kept two, maybe three items (and only one thing was particularly handy, that being a nice purple corrosive SMG, good for robots et al).

I think the majority of the items were purple, certainly blue and purple combined. No sign of orange anywhere ... seems to have lined-up with most others' descriptions (particularly those who had used an exploit early on to personally open the chest several hundred times).

So, it would appear that the chest serves it's purpose in excellent fashion, assuming it was designed as a "Skinner box" to keep people paying attention to 'social media' more than they normally would, which is my case obviously as it's 0.0% of the time normally, but had a browser tab open to their twitter page for a couple days.

Thanks Tiny! I got the code and now have 2 keys in my possession. I actually got useful stuff when I opened it at level 25. Now at level 30 I'm probably gonna hold out for level 35.

Hyperius the Invincible is not inappropriately named in the least ..... I think I'll just pass on getting any of the seraph currency and trinkets.

Unrelated .... I was never a fan of the "Amp" style shields .... until I got a level 50 "Bee" .... hot damn tamales Ahab, that's the best fucking thing since sliced bread .... enough to make a crotchety old man giggle with glee at times.

More unrelated .... the ol' Leviathan's treasure room didn't exactly wow .... plenty of green items, plenty of blue items, no purple, no orange. Perhaps with a group of people you might get luckier (does it matter how many people are playing when you're opening chests??).

Lastly, if anyone needs some money (in the game, you dopes), msg me when you're playing and I'm sure I can give you, say, a hundred grand or so.

man, this game can be brutally hard at times! I'm on second playthrough at level 38 and I'm dying every 5 minutes on average. Finally went and used one of my gold keys and got a couple nice pistols, but even with those it still takes half my ammo and the use of phaselock 3x to down one super badass enemy.

I probably died 15 times during the firehawk mission.

I might go re-spec to see if that helps.

So, perhaps I'm the only dumbass in the world that didn't quite understand the nature of these Golden Keys.

To the point, I thought that when one acquired a key, all of your characters - created and yet-to-be-created - received a key.

To clarify my supposition, I will contrast with reality, which is: when you get a key, no one character "receives" said key .... instead you, the player, have a number of golden keys, and using a key removes that key not just for a character but from you, period.

Did I miss something obvious? I think that's really shitty, but perhaps my own erroneously inflated expectations are going to color my opinion too much to realize that it's not actually shitty.

Anyway, I'm pissed. Someone make me feel better; if you know me, you know you have your work cut out for you.

On the lighter side of the news, so far I have found my second playthrough with my assassin notably easier to play than it was with my soldier, though I've only just brought said assassin into Sanctuary and have yet to go on any missions beyond the simple ones in-town. This surprised me in particular because, although the assassin plays more to my style (sniping and large melee damage), I assumed I had kinda ruined myself with the always delightful nuclear gun turret for the soldier.

Who cares. I need a pee.

If and when you and your lads decide to take on the two super bosses in that DLC, let me know .... it took all of, oh, three minutes for me to decide that there's no way in hell I will waste any more time trying to fight them on my own.

this game is seriously fucking impossible on the second solo siren playthrough. I'm completely stuck on the mission where you have to kill Bloodwing. Tried it at level 42, couldn't do it. Tried again at 45, could't do it. Tried again at 46 when the mission is listed as trivial, died about 20 times before giving up.

I don't understand how its even possible. There's nowhere to take cover, she hits you one time and your shield is gone, you can't avoid getting hit by her, its impossible.

edit: checked out the forum at Gamefaqs, apparently there are lots of people having problems with this and resorting to getting someone to join their game and help them get past this boss.

Also, anyone know what a bee shield is? People online keep talking about it, but I don't recall ever seeing one.

well, level 48 and I still can't get past Bloodwing. I can get past the fire version but as soon as she goes to shock I die in one hit.

I keep reading online that I need a bee shield, but I don't recall ever seeing one. Does anyone know where I can find one and what makes them so special?

I'm gonna guess it has some elemental proprieties, eliminates or negates fire/shock etc.

whew, finally finally killed bloodwing. The key was not killing any of the skags until I needed to in second wind. had to do that about 4-5 times during the battle.

It seriously took me two weeks to get past this mission, now onto finishing the game and then doing it again with a new character. Not sure who I'll be next, maybe I'll try that mecromancer.
