I don't think that is going to play well once the Big 10 season starts.

Probably not. No use denying it. The team has holes but they have a lot of shooters and athletes.

That is true they do that that, and if they are hitting they will be in every game.

So is this Groce's system or is he just going this route because of the personnel right now?

It seems like his. A lot of ball screening and wide-open style compared to Weber's plodding motion half-court.

They only have 1 true PG which is a problem for his style. Abrams better be ready to play a lot of minutes.

Both teams are relying on the 3 and they both look almost awkward as they get close to the lane.

Watching Iowa State vs. Cincy in some random tournament game and i think if you add up the teams, coaches and media, they outnumber the fans in the seats 3:1.

Go Cyclones!

Illinois State vs. Louisville this Saturday at noon at Louisville. Nice bit of scheduling. ISU won't be
able to compete but they have a pretty decent team this year. I am really excited about having
Dan Mueller as the new head coach. He played there when I was a student and we made the NCAA
tournament 2 years in a row with a good squad. I like his pedigree playing for and coaching under
Kevin Stallings for a long time. Supposed to be a really good recruiter.

As I happened to be perusing the ISU Alumni magazine over the weekend (because I like to review Alumni magazines from around the country on holidays), I learned the Coach Mueller was voted the 2nd most promising assistant in the SEC by his peers. Seems like a good hire for the Redbirds.

I would agree. I have the same magazine in my water closet but haven't gotten around to the article yet.
Spending 4 years under Stallings as a player and 10 as an assistant couldn't have hurt his coaching IQ any
either. If he can tap into the Chicago market for some of the talent that falls through the cracks he may
have a shot in the Missouri Valley Conference. Creighton and Wichita St. are solid this year but ISU could
sneak up there. We will see how they fare this weekend. CSN at noon I think.

Actually it is located in Normal but that place is anything but normal. I enjoyed the time there, it is what you
make of it. Big teaching and nursing school so there at least are a lot of good looking women who couldn't
get into their first choice schools. The bad news is that most of the time that school is in session they are
wearing way too many clothes.

I don't mind Bloomington-Normal. I was about to spend 4 years there until I decommitted on signing day.

You likely made a good choice. I went the juco route for a few years, hooked up with a team for a season but
didn't like the coach so I ended up walking on at ISU and finished my eligibility there. It is your prototypical
farm country school. Not much else to do but go to class and drink a lot.

I will put this here, but what has happend to Purdue, is this a rebuilding year or should Painter have gone to Missouri.

A couple of years ago, if Hummell hadn't gotten hurt, they had a very good chance for a Final Four Run and now they get beat by Northwestern and after getting drilled by Indiana.

Dan Dacickh, not spelled right, was ready to start cutting players on the team, said after this team getting drilled by Indiana and not coming out to play Northwestern and their scholarships should be pulled.

Basically got one player in Hammons and was late for the team bus, so didn't start.

It's like Painter was building something, now looks like it's back to the bad years, unless it's a rebuilding year.

It's a rebuilding year. The junior and senior classes have been bad. DJ Byrd is a good player but he is a role player. He doesn't have the type of game that can lead a team unless he's hitting lot of 3 pointers. Terone Johnson is the only player worth anything in his class but he's been disappearing a lot lately. What we are really seeing here is Painter having a lot of misses in recruiting for 3 years. This freshman class is really good. Hammons is likely to go pro after next year. The other guys all look to be pretty good with a chance for them to be really good. Next year, they add another quality recruiting class.

Don't be surprised if there is some turnover in the offseason. There are multiple players that don't seem to be putting in the effort. They have to see that playing time is going to go away quickly.

It sucks but seasons like this happen. The rest of the season is just to build for next year.

That's what you hope Boiler Rick.

I will say on Byrd, all it seems like he does is shoot 3's and he's no good at it.

He should have went to Illinois then.

He's good at it. It's just easy to shut it down because the other guards are worthless.

If he was playing the role of Will Sheehey or Ryne Smith he'd look pretty good. He's not the right player to be your first or second scoring option.
