Why are you listening anyway - the Giggle Fags on SCR can't hold your attention?

Harry has made jokes about the space shuttle Columbia disaster and recently tried to make jokes about Josh Hancock's wake having a two drink minimum. I'd wager that if any of Harry's family, or more importantly to him, anyone he can mention on the air in hopes of getting free stuff, were involved in those situations, he'd say how offensive that was to their families and that "jokes" like that aren't funny. So I think Harry acting like this was tasteless is BS. The only reason he'd be concerned is because of the possibility of his free ride coming to an end. No Mac, and this show's ratings sink like a stone and gets the kind of ratings Harry is accustomed to his shows getting.

As for Mac, I'd like to say I'm surprised he'd do something like this, but I'm not. I wonder if he'd think people making crass jokes about autistic children was funny...I'm guessing not.

Hancock deserves no sympathy whatsoever. He's lucky he didn't kill anybody besides himself. I didn't mind Harry making fun of him. I feel sorry for the guy's family (even his dad who overreacted), but not Hancock.

Mees died trying to save his daughter, and did so successfully. It's different. That's like making fun of the 9 firefighters who recently died in that warehouse collapse incident.

I'll poke at DP for "not being able to get through a sentence" when Mees is brought up just because I think DP is being a little overdramatic and it's been over 10 years; I understand not everybody can get over losing a friend, I'm hardly someone who can judge the grieving process for anyone but it just seems like...Dan Patrick really overdoes the drama. If he wasn't overdramatic about everything (including his sports picks) maybe I'd give him more credit.

What did Mac say, BTW? Was he making fun of Mees directly?

For those of you "Keeping Score" at home, Mac has made fun of this for the past year or two. Old news.

I think there is a 24 hour rule for dead people jokes and Mees has been dead for 12 years . I think the rule is "No Kids" will be made fun of at anytime and in the dead pool you may not choose a child.

I had forgotten Mees was trying to help his daughter. I regret making those comments. It was nothing shy of aweful taste. I also realize that by talking about Patrick's autism and all that goes with it, I subject myself to taking a beating. Have at it if that gets your rocks off, as I contemplate teaching him where and how to do accomplish the same.

Would Dan go on the air and mention his other son's proclivity for self abuse? Not likely, and not acceptable even if he did. Think about how embarassing that would be to him.

That's the point that you and Doug appear to miss. It's OK to talk about your autistic son publicly like his person or feelings are irrelevant since he is special needs, but to call someone a retard is unacceptable for the same reasons.

A child of any kind is an incredible gift, not "ours or mine" to relate personal stories about on the air.

After some of the personal stories you related about yourself on this board Doug, I had hoped that you of all people would understand that.

Nice post Sock . Mac is a pretty thick skinned guy but you cross the line when you go after someones kids. A bunch of us here spent the better part of a Monday afternoon with MJH helping out a great cause to fight autism . I think Mac brings a ton of awareness for his cause but the people at the event were singing his praises for the amount of time and effort he spends to help out not only his kids but others in the Chicagoland area. He does not know this but I wanted you guys to be aware of the things the volunteers from "Infeat" WERE SAYING .

He's a big boy and can take care of himself and he probably things I 'm a chooch for doing this but I wanted to throw a bouque his way for helping out kids. That's putting things in perspective , fuck all the other shit .

Dan going on the air with that story was a humorous way of sharing a "day in the life" of a family dealing with autism. It was a very real situation that most of us will never have to deal with.
If you want to question Dan's judgement, feel free, but there is no need to attack his parenting.

Assume you had a son who was not special needs, would you discuss this issue about him on the air? Not likely since out of respect for your son you realize it could be a cause for embarassment for him in front of his group of friends or peers.

Is this subject likely to make an autistic child the subject of ridicule among his peers? No, since so many of the these special children struggle to communicate because of their illness.

Have you applied a different or even lesser standard to your autistic son if you do so? Would you personally even consider doing a segment on your autistic son about this sublject? I believe that most people here would answer no. It sounds like WS would not. That is your personal opinion. I don't "get it" and am not likely to anytime soon.

For me, Human life has an incredible dignity attached to it in any form.
