Launching Cutler would greatly improve the Bears chances of getting the #1 pick in the draft. So that is one strategy.

That's 5 yes and 3 maybe. Plus look at those teams. Culter would rather be here. I win.

Bears could always trade him to one of those teams for a bunch of picks.

They'd also have to launch Peppers, Tillman, Briggs, and Forte to even be in consideration.

when cutler plays for bears, they are 32-19
when cutler is hurt, they are 2-6

So, until someone comes up with a legitimate plan to bring in a franchise QB, I'll stick with Cutler please. Pay him whatever it takes.

Would you rather have Cutler and a bad O-Line or Alex Smith and a good O-line?

Well, Cutler will demand quite a high salary to be resigned. If you trade him this offseason to one of the QB-retarded teams for a few draft picks, you can use those picks to draft lineman. You can also use money saved from not signed Cutler to sign Alex Smith at a lower cost and probably a solid veteren OL as well.

This scenario relies heavily on Emery not being a complete drafting fuckhead like Angelo, but you get the gist.

Well, if you could guarantee a GOOD line (not OK, Fair, or better than what we have), that's one thing. As we have seen, drafting O-linemen is a fucking crapshoot. Plus, you wouldn't get that much for Cutler. Maybe one first rounder.

I think all this talk is "just plain silly." I remain firmly convinced that the Bears like Cutler and he likes the Bears. He's better than any likely alternative. He will remain with the Bears until he is so concussed he has to retire. So at least another season.

Whoa, slow down B-rick - unless you mean to throw your lot in with Josh McDaniels. If there is anything that vindicates the Cutler trade for Chicago, it's the complete and utter disaster that Mr McDaniels wrought in Denver. Surely you don't mean to use McDaniel's talent evaluation in your defense.

I tend to agree with you more when you talk about not extending Cutler for big money.

It's easy to blame it on Josh McDaniels alone, but it was an organizational decision. You just don't see QB's like that get launched so easily unless there is a reason why.

In the NFL, the QB has all the power. Look at how many people have been fired to placate Cutler in Chicago.

No. It was all Josh McDaniels. What you don't see, except for one time, is an NFL team draft a QB in the first roun who...CAN'T THROW. That was also all Josh McDaniels.

So I'm not gonna put any stock in McDaniels not liking Cutler cuz that dumb ass loved Tebow.

You can explain away any singular event in Cutler's career based on it always being someone else being bad at their job, but eventually you have to look at the big picture here and realize that it can't always be everyone else who is at fault when things constantly happen.

This is the NFL. Elite QB's dictate everything. If the Broncos believed in Cutler, they aren't letting a coach get rid of him. When McDaniels was being interviewed, do you think they said "We think Cutler is our future, are you ok with that?" and McDaniels said "No, let's trade him for Kyle Orton"?

I am not really a Cutler fanatic but he sure is tough not an injury prone qb and I really enjoy when/how he plays. I guess its fair to say I am glad we have him but had we never gotten him that would have been ok too. So with that in mind I think the best option is what was stated a little back in the posts. Play him through next year, franchise him one time and then let him move on.

Well, like I said, would you have ever guessed that an NFL coach would say to him GM, "Let's draft Tebow in the first round and make him our franchise QB."

Boilermaker Rick: No. I would never have guessed that.

Beardown: I know. That's my point. It happened. The same guy that did that, got rid of Cutler. Mike Shanahan loved Cutler. It wasn't about getting Orton. He was a stop gap. It was about getting rid of Cutler. And they also got some draft picks. So it's not like they just gave Cutler away. They got 2 first rounders and Orton. You're right. They didn't believe in Cutler. They believed in Tebow. So I don't want to hear that they knew what they were doing. Clearly, they didn't.

Of course McDaniels proved to be an idiot, but as I pointed out, future franchise QB's are actually more important than coaches. The organization did not believe in Cutler or he would be there today. That's why you almost never see a new coach come in and get rid of the potential franchise QB, especially coming off a pro bowl season.

They hired a coach who wanted to get rid of Cutler. You don't think that is telling?

It also worked out better for the Broncos than the Bears though. They won a playoff game too, and now they have Peyton Manning.

Jay Cutler is Kellen Davis. He looks like he should be good and occasionally does something good but normally he just disappoints you.

No. I don't think it's telling. Once again, McDaniels proved to be a dumb talent evaluator.

What do you want me to say? The owner gave his boy-genius new hire the power to get rid of a franchise QB. He trusted him based on his New England days. Tom Brady has fooled a lot of people into thinking his OCs are good.

Jay Cutler had more good plays in his last game than Kellen Davis has had in his career. You sure are reaching with this new act.

It's not an act. Obviously that was a bit of an exaggeration. The point is still valid. They both look they should be studs at their position to me. I was almost as high on Kellen Davis as I was on Cutler. Then I watched them play and they've pissed me off ever since I've ran out of excuses.

Cutler much better than that bum kd.. So beardown...11 games cutler has missed or been knocked out of with the bears...far from durable.

Cutler is going nowhere if they can't sign him he will be franchised and he will get his $30 million a year so shutup.

If they can get a decent oline that he will stay healthy.

Yeah and somehow he keep the Bears winning. I don't know why the Bears can't win a game without him with losers like Hanie, and Campbell.

That is pretty telling.

The only problem is that Cutler is on pace for a season very similar to what Orton did his last year here in Chicago, and Cutler is in the "prime" of his career.

And yet Cutler keeps winning.

While Orton goes down every year with an "ankle injury" and the backup QB beating him every year and he loses his job.

Cutler has had a season ending injury the past two years too, so...

Oh, and Orton is now a career backup. I don't know why that matters. He likely could come in and put up the same numbers as Cutler is.

I get great joy that Cutler is now an "ALL HE DOES IS WIN!" QB.
